Period 7 General PE

Due Date: Thursday, April 14th

We have started our handball unit. Handball is an invasion game, like basketball and flag football which we will be starting next week. Our focus this past week has been on maintaining possession of the ball. List for me five things you can do in any game situation to help your team maintain possession of the ball. Be specific about the tactic and sport you would use it in.

1. Finding open space is a useful tactic in any sport, like handball or soccer, because while your teamate has the ball you are in a position to support them.
2.A give and go is an easy way to carry the ball up court in a sport like basketball and makes it challenging for the opposition to intercept the ball.
3. In sports like soccer and basketball, where your eyes are focused on the ball as you play or up field, sometimes its difficult to know if your being guarded.A simple "Man On" notifys a player to watch their back and be on the defensive.
4. In sports like floor hockey, the other team can press quickly. When your overwhelmed by pressure from the other team, passing it back to the keeper is a good alternative that will buy time.
5. In sports like soccer and basketball, its a good idea to play the field. Don't gravitate to the ball in the middle of a congested play; use the space and widen the field in order to make passes much more effective.

1. Move without the ball, to make sure your teammates have someone to pass to
2. Be smart with your passes, don't throw the ball away.
3. Don't lose track of the ball. Know where it is and what you have to do to get it.
4. Only pass it to the good kids.
5. (This works for me) Be a million times more athletic than the kid guarding you.

1. Handball- Don't take more than three steps or hold the ball for more than three seconds to prevent the ball from being given to the other team.

2. Flag-football- Spin and avoid opponents to avoid your flag from getting pulled. (While this itself does not automatically give the other team the ball, it brings it one step closer)

3. Soccer- Don't kick the ball out of bounds.

4. Volleyball- Don't hit the ball into the net; keep the ball up in the air so other team-mates may hit it.

5. Ultimate Frisbee- Make short, quick passes to prevent the other team from batting the frisbee down.

1. Keep your head up, look for any open players
2.Do not pass to another teammate when they're blocked even if you are in a tight situation, its better to just keep the ball than risk loosing it
3.Know the rules, for example you cannot takes three steps in basketball without dribbling and that would result into a turnover
4.Keep an eye on the ball, make sure you know where the ball is at all time
5.Most importantly, have eye contact or any kind of signal to notify the teammate that your about to pass to

1.) Always try to cut to an open area to keep the ball moving and constantly passing.
2.) Never throw the ball too soft or too hard so it is impossible for your teammates to catch the ball.
3.) Think for a split second before passing the ball to prevent poor passes/plays.
4.) Always communicate with your teammates.
5.) Never take too long to try and make an amazing play do whatever is necessary to maintain possession of the ball.

List for me five things you can do in any game situation to help your team maintain possession of the ball. Be specific about the tactic and sport you would use it in.
1) Getting open and moving around for people to have the oppurtunity to pass or score( for any team sport )
2)Passing back and forth is also a good way to get to the goal because its hard for a defender to get the ball between the two of you. ( This is really useful in soccer )
3)always defending your mark and not losing sight of them ( basketball and soccer )
4) make accurate passes because in sports like handball if it hits the ground, its the other teams ball.
5) Lastly, just passing in general to keep the ball moving and going forward can be very useful in all sports

1) Try to find open space that is not guarded by the other team. This will limit the chance of an intercepted pass. This tactic is used oftenly in most invasion games such as basketball, soccer, etc.
2) Make use of the wide space of the field. When spread out, it is harder for the other team to swarm a target. This is also a popular tactic in most invasion games such as Hockey.
3) Try to pass quickly and accurately. This allows the team to move through an area more efficently and keep possession of the ball. This is oftenly used in most games such as handball.
4) Rely on teammates to help. Very rarely is a person successful acting alone. Almost all team games rely on this (Including water polo)
5) It may be useful to weaken the team by making them chase after the ball, as long as they do not substitute teammates in. This will help reduce their effectness in gameplay. This is especially useful in sports that are very strenous, such as soccer.

1. in handball you should look to see if someone is open or not before you pass.

2. Also in hand ball if someone is blocked you can keep the ball instead of trying to pass it to them and lose possesion

3. in flag football it is helpful to pass to people who can catch the ball well and if no one is open then you can just run the ball

4. in basketball instead of passing you can dribble the ball so you can keep it

5. also, in any sport, if you need to get to the ball make yourself open so you can receive it easier.

Maintaining possession is very important in any invasion game.
1.Making good passes prevents the opposing team to lose time on scoring by not letting them intercept the pass: Rugby
2.Trying to create an unbalanced situation where it is three on two or two on one players can make it hard for defense to intercept passes or steal ball: Basketball
3.Trying to move around the defense to find open space can help keep possession: Football
4.Having good plays reduces the chance of loosing the ball: Polo
5.Invading the space of the opponents team to score as many goals as possible and then regaining possession as quickly as possible will ensure a win and help keep possession: Handball

1. Handball- get into open space so that your teammates can pass the ball to you w/o it being intercepted.
2. Handball- know who has the ball at all times. If you do it's easier to intercept/receive the ball.
3. Flag Football- by spinning you can avoid the opposing team's hands and save your flags
4. Vollyball- by setting the ball you give people behind you a chance to score the point (instead of you trying to bump it and the ball ends up hitting the net)

In order to maintain possession...

1.In soccer, frequently make passes so the opponent dose not have the time or chance to steel the ball.

2.In basket ball, use good dribbling techniques, such as protecting the ball with your body,so the other team can not take the ball

3.In football, make sure passes are accurate so that the opponent can not intercept the ball

4.In basketball, picks can be used to prevent the opponent from getting the ball

5.In hand ball, moving to open space provides the person who has the ball an easy outlet so that they can pass the ball with out fear of it being intercepted.

1.Finding Open space works in anyone goal game.

2.Passing to teamates that are in open space is key because someone will run to guard them, thus progressing the ball and creating more open space.

3.Think before you make a pass. Make sure it is more likely they'll actually receive it.

4.Basketball or Handball- Put pressure on the opposite team to increase the chance of them turning it over.

5.Make sure whoever your passing to knows your passing it to him.

1. Communicate with your teammates first before the begining of the game so they won't be just standing there and doesn't know the situation such as basketball and football.
2. When you're blocking the person from the opposite team, make sure you use your back to block the person not "facing" the person so you can intercept the ball when opposite team passes it, this works in basketball, soccer, handball and football.
3. Always try to make an effort for your team instead of just standing there watching and forget to catch the ball when they pass it to you, it's always better to try than not trying, this works in "any" game.
4. Just keep moving around even though you're not holding the ball, make sure you're always open for your team to pass the ball to you, this works in basketball, soccer, handball, football and any other game that requires passing the ball.
5. Always pass the ball to your teamates before shooting or kicking it into the goal or basket, because one person can't "always" hold the ball and keep scoring because all games requires team work, this especially works on basketball, soccer, handball, and football.
