Due Date: Thursday, April 14th

We have started our handball unit. Handball is an invasion game, like basketball and flag football which we will be starting next week. Our focus this past week has been on maintaining possession of the ball. List for me five things you can do in any game situation to help your team maintain possession of the ball. Be specific about the tactic and sport you would use it in.

1.In football, you could defend one player on the opposing team in order to intercept the ball
2.In soccer you be the goalie and make sure to block all attempts at making a goal.
3.In field hockey You can get open from the opposing defenders in order to recieve the ball and make a point.
4.In flag football you make sharp cuts in front of the opposing team member and catch the ball than run, avoiding the opposition team.
5.In handball, you try to stand at a certain place and trick the other team like you won't do anything but actually you suddenly surprise them and jump in front, catch the ball.

1.
You have to run with the ball in any game running is allowed in.
2. Pass the ball to a player who is "open. this is crucial because passing it to a blocked player will most likely result in a change of possession. any game with passing
3. Another tacttic is to get into open space, where you are free to mave quickly in any direction. Basketball
4. You have to be able to decide quickly. If the goal/ hoop is nearby, shoot the ball immediately when you are ready. any game with a hoop/ goal
5. You must be prepared for the incoming ball. You have to communicate and respond while the ball is in midair. Volleyball

1. If your team mate has the ball and is fully surrounded the team mate should ask their team mates to go far out near the goal and do a long pass.
2. Only pass when someone is open.

3. have team mates surround the person with the ball so there's more of a chance to have a succesful pass.

4. When your open and the person with the ball doesnt see you yell out their name to get their attention.
5. When one opponent is covering you and you have the ball, throw it in a way that the opponent isnt expecting you to for ex. pretend to throw it to someone ahead of you but instead you turn and throw it to someone next to you to confuse the opponent.

Passing is essential in almost every sport with a ball

players must talk to other team members to gain the ball

you need to intercept the ball in order to have it

you need to move around the court in order to get opened

it is extremely impotant that you cover your oppontant

the following tactics are for every sport especially hand ball...
1) don't drop the ball!!! so many people have the ball but then they want to show off or do something stupid and they wind up dropping it.
2) stay open and NEVER pass to someone who's being blocked. I can't tell you how many times I see someone completely open and are alert, but the person who has the ball wants to pass it to someone who may be better than you, but has so many opponents around them. Just because their good doesn't mean you should pass the ball to them ALL the time.
3)be alert and know when you can't get the ball. Everyone's always lie i got it and stuff, but when they go for it it's wwwaaaaayyyyy out of their reach and they wind up dropping the ball. People also throw too long or too short and can cause them to lose the ball also.
4) try to get open. If you see one of your teammates are trying to pass the ball to someone, get open!!! they only have to pass it to someone.
5) if the other team has the ball try to intersect. Alot of people just pass the ball between them and the other person. (their both usually good at the sport.) but this can be easily intersected by putting your hand in the middle when their passing the ball to eachother across the court, field, etc.

1. Try to keep close to your team members, throwing the ball far will result in a curve possibly, and your team not catching the ball. This is in football, unless of course, you can catch the ball...

2. In basketball, were known to pass to each other a lot. Thus, the ball should be passed to each other a lot and to fulfill the 3 pass rule.

3. In field hockey as we've played before, make sure to block the ball from going into the goal if it gets near.

4. You should try to through up the ball a bit higher if a person higher than you is blocking you make sure that person is open though.

5. In volleyball, you need to communicate with your team and who is passing to who, or else the ball will be intercepted, or your team member will clash into each other.

1. pass to your team mates. In sports like hockey, soccer, basketball it is unlikely you will make it all the way across the whole field and you are bound to lose the ball to the opponent, so use your team members and pass to them in order to more safely and productively move the ball across the field.
2. good communication skills. it always helps to know who your team members are and acknowledge them so you can call their name when you want to pass to them. also it is good when you have good communication skills so you can respect and congratulate the opposing team at the end of a game of any sport.
3. knowing the rules of the game. playing fair will save you many points and many angry people. in handball, rules allow you only 3 seconds to pass the ball. in volleyball, rules do not permit one team member to tap the ball twice in a row. in soccer, you can't use your hands in the game play.
4. always keep moving and be on the lookout. in any sport, moving towards the goal is good. also, moving towards any opponent who is with or without the ball increases your chances of snatching or intercepting the ball.
5. wear appropriate for the game clothing. in any sport it is essential to have athletic clothing for maximum productivity, but in special cases like football, where you have to wear protective gear, or in soccer, where you usually need cleats, special gear is needed. also, having water nearby in case of dehydration improves your activity in any sport.

1. In soccer you can control the ball and make smart passes to mantain possesion
2. In handball you can move without the ball to get open for your teammates to pass to you and mantain possesion.
3. In football you should cut and shake the defender off you so that you can be open and recieve the ball.
4. In basketball you can make smart passes that allow you or your teamates to score.
5. In most sports you should swing the ball and keep it moving so the defenders work harder and get tired and you still have the ball.

So. 5 things you can do.
- Pass the ball to open players. In basketball you could fake right or left and throw it in unexpected directions.
- Blocking a player from getting the ball. Like in football or a lot of other sports.
- In Team Handball you could pass the ball high or low since it is a relatively lightweight ball.
- Games like volleyball are very fast paced and often, the ball may go in directions you aren't expecting, so staying attentive and acting fast is a must. No hesitation.
- Flag football requires a lot of communication and game plans. There are many strategies.
