Due Date: Wednesday, March 14th
So I am a huge college basketball fan and March Madness is just around the corner. I would like for you to get more familiar with college basketball and watch some games during this time. For this Blog, I need for you to tell me which team you think is going to win the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament. I need for you to indicate to me 2 players on that team that you feel are the strongest players (I need first and last names) and explain why. Additionally, please tell me what you think has made this particular team so successful this year. If you don't have a favorite college team, google search the top ten and pick one you like.

Well my terps and crimson tide are looking pretty weak. so i have no faith in them. But the team who i think is going to win the national champion ship is the UK Wildcats. All i have to say is Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis. These two players are prob the best players in the NCAA. Kidds' three point capabilty is really tough to stop and Davis'defense and short game is remarkable. Kentucky has size and altheticism that cant be stopped which makes them a good choice to win it all. Espically when defense wins games, UK leads the league in forced turnovers and blocked shots, DAVIS HIMSELF has somehting like 140 blocks and counting in his freshmen season... he passed the record set by shaq. With davis' defense of threat it makes it impossible for UK to lose because Defense wins championships... as you can see by my roll tide football vs. lsu. Also Kidds' offensive threat creates problems to opposing teams. SO.. Kentucky is winning it all.

I think Ohio State is going to win the tournament. Jared Sullinger is a solid threat at the post and he can also shoot threes whenever he feels like it. He is fed by one of the best poin guards in the tournament who is called Aaron Craft who averages 4+ assists per game. Ohio State is made great by their team play and cohesiveness. Jared Sullinger passed on the draft so that he would stay one more year with the Buckeyes and this shows how much the team matters to him. They know how to move the ball around especially while they include the post player(s) who usually happens to be J. Sullinger.

I don't necessarily think their going to win but my favorite team in the tournament is duke. I think the two best player on duke are Austin Rivers and Mason Plumlee. Rivers averages 15.3 points per game, the highest average on the team, and a season high of 29 against UNC, a game where he had a buzzer beater 3 to win. He started off slow but has improved over the course of the year. Mason Plumlee is dukes best big man averaging almost a double double with 11 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game. When Mason doesn't play well, Duke generally doesn't play well. Duke's success this season has come from their ability to knock down shots and comeback in the 2nd half. They are primarily a 2nd half team and live and die by the 3. This has helped them in many games but has hurt them in games such as the UNC game at Duke where duke shot just 6/21 on 3 pointers.

Kyle Weissenburger,
GEORGETOWN
Jason Clark- Very versatile player with a hot hand solid handles. His ability to get his shot going can be deadly making him one of the most dangerous in the Big-East. He was recently selected to be on First team All Big-East.
Hollis Thompson- Athletic forward who can shoot the 3 as well as finish inside. Currently 6th in the Big East in field goal percentage. Second leading scorer behind Clark.
Georgetown has had a few bumps in the road but their ability to beat anyone can be deadly. Also they have great coaching which can give Georgetown the upper hand against even opponents. I expect them to win it all. Calling it.
-UNC is going to win.
-Tyler Zeller and Kendall Marshall are the two strongest player on the team. Tyler zeller is a great offensive post threat with great size that can rebound the ball decently as well. Kendall Marshall, although he doesnt score too much, is a great facilitator, averaging 9.7 assists per game.
-UNC has been successful this year because of the balance of their team. They have two great players at polar opposite positions and many other role players, such as Harrison Barnes, John Henson, and Dexter Strickland, spread throughout all different positions.

Missouri is going to win the national championship
Marcus Denmon-Lights-out three point shooter, shot 41% in the regular season, also a solid defender
Phil Pressy-Point guard that has run Missouri's offense to perfection this season, he averages 6.3 assists per game and is an expert at feeding shooters like Denmon and Kim English.
Missouri's ability to shoot the 3, run the floor, and pressure on defense will lead them to a national championship

Right now I have Kentucky winning the National Championship because of their up-tempo style, athleticism, and team defense. Their two key players are both freshmen, Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Both freshmen have pure athleticism and are complete players on both offense and defense. All of Kentucky's starters average similar numbers points wise, but the two stats that stand out for both players are Davis' rebounds: 10.0 rpg and his blocks: 4.6 bpg and Kidd-Gilchrist's field goal %: 48.2% and his points per game: 11.8 ppg. When Kentucky's players are all on the same page and coach, John Calipari allows them to play their up-tempo style and push the ball up the floor, Kentucky is a very tough team to compete with and that is why they are my choice as National Champions.

kansas:
-thomas robinson scores a lot and hes top 3 rebounding in d1

#DukeNation is here and i believe they will win the tournament, the odds are against us this year but i enjoy proving people wrong. the two best players on are team is Austin Rivers and mason Plumnee , rivers is the best scorer on our team averaging 15.3 ppg and is the only freshman to lead Duke in scoring since 1988. Mason is the best big man on the team averaging nearly a double double at 11 ppg and 9.2 Rbpg. we tend to score earlier but allow a comeback, but we still win the game.we have a lot to work on if we want to go deep in the tournament we have to find ways for Dawkins to get involved as well as shoot better, we have lost to Florida state 3X this year and it shows how ATHLETIC TEAMS are a struggle for us and we need to improve pronto.

Duke
Austin River he averages 15.3ppg
Mason Plumnee averages 11 points and 9.2 rebounds
Austin River does all on the floor and is a huge leader to the team.
Mason Plumnee is a good three point shooter and is leading with rebounds for the team.
I think Kentucky will win the championship. Two of their strongest players are Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Davis is averaging a double a doulbe with 14.3 ppg and 10 rpg while Gilchrist averages 11.8 ppg and 7.6 rpg making them one of the best forward combos. They are able to get open shots any time and also play solid defense making them a hard to beat team as they finished the season with a 32-2 record and the #1 seed in the tournament.

I personally think Kentucky has the best chance at winning the tournament this year. First of all, their big man Anthony Davis is an absolute stud averaging a double-double with 14.3 PPG and 10 RPG along with a 64.2 field goal percentage. He will wreak havoc in the paint the entire game. Secondly, while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is worth mentioning, another guard Doron Lamb is also a very good player. He's a pure scorer averaging 13.2 PPG and shoots a team high 45.7% from 3-point range. With a combination of excellent shooting, defense, size, and athleticism, Kentucky is a very difficult team to take down.

For my pick that's going to win it all is North Carolina. They are just an unbeatable team. The coach brings the whole team together and as well as the players, John Henson and Harrison Barnes. Their incredible team leadership has brought the team through amazing feats and is powerful. Harrison Barnes is a forward averages 17.8 ppg and is leading his team while John Henson is down getting 10 rebounds per game and also averages 13.8 ppg. Their team leadership is what brought them to the ACC championships even though they lost. They are definitely going to win it all
-Austin Shin
I think the Duke Blue Devils will win the NCAA because of there two key players:Austin Rivers and Mason Plumlee. Mason Plumlee averages around 11 points and 9 rebounds per game. He is very good at rebounds which can give Duke second chance points. Austin Rivers averages around 15 points per game. He is a very good shooter and can steal the ball.
-Robby Severynse
I think Michigan State is going to win the national championship. They are led by senior forward Draymond Green who averages 16.1 PPG, 10.4 RPG and 3.4 APG. Also,by sophomore guard Keith Appling who averages 11.3 PPG, 2.9 RPG and 3.9 APG. Their strong play from these two players and their bench have made a really good team this season.
Nikos Tragotsis
I believe that Kentucky will win the tournament. Anthony Davis is a major threat in the tournament with his ability to block shots and snag rebounds, and he also plays very well on offense. Another key player on Kentucky is Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who is a big guy that can rebound and can perform exceptionally at the free-throw line. Kentucky's team chemistry mixed with the amount of individual talent they have on their roster makes them a very safe choice to pick to win the championship.
-Liam Harrington
I think it's gonna be Kentucky because they are the number one team now and their players have average ppg which means all the players can shoot, can score. the most outstanding player they have-Anthony Davis is gonna lead this team to keep their number one ranking. Anthony Davis can shoot, get inside, and also a good defender.
i think Kentucky will win the championship because they have a very young and athletic team.
Anthony Davis is unstoppable averaging 14.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.6 blocks. he also shoots over 60% so he is a good person to pass the ball to down low.
Kyle Wiltjer will be key for Kentucky to win the title. he is shooting around 42% from 3 point range and if he can keep it up it will be huge for the wildcats
Kentucky is the #1 overall seed going into the tournament so they will obviously be the team to beat.

MISSOURI TIGERS
2 players that stand out on this team are Marcus denmon and Phil Pressey. While this team has a lot of players that can score points for them these 2 are the biggest. Marcus averages 17.6 ppg and is a beast on the perimeter. Kim averages 14.9 ppg and is 47% from 3 point range. Being 6-6 makes him a threat on the post and around the perimeter. He is a threat all around. Missouri has a fast paced offense in which opponents cannot keep up with.

DREW HOLLINS
I think ohio state is going to win because Jared Sullinger is a very clutch player and has a really good post game. also aaron craft is really good at getting assists. so by passing it to sulinger in the post will really get some points on the board.
i know a lot about college basketball so my well thought out open on who is going to win is VCU. last year stepping up to the big leagues they made a surprising run to the final four.
Bradford burgess is leading the team with points per game and has an unbelievable talent to finish. i woulnt be surprised if he comes out big in all the games this march as a senior he will lead the team.
Juvonte Reddic is leading the team in rebounds making their opponents struggle to keep up with them in transition. with Reddic on the boards he will not let any one get the ball a true athlete and respectable will defiantly be relied upon during the tournament
MYLES ROMM
I think Wisconsin will win it all
Jordan Taylor- leads team in scoring with about 15 points a game. 34 steals on the season and has a 3pt field goal percentage of .355.
Ryan Evans- second in scoring with 10.9 pts per game and leads in rebounds with 6.8 per game his field goal percentage is .435.
I think wisconsin will win because of how low they hold teams in scoring allowing only 53 pts a game.

I believe that Marquette has the potential to win it all. Two key players are:
Darius Johnson-Odem: The task of the senior guard is simple: Shoot the ball. He was the team's leading scorer during the regular season and will need to be very close if not better to the 18 points a game that he put up during that run. The Golden Eagles have only two players that averaged double-digit scoring during the regular season. They have a lot of other role players, but outside of Johnson-Odom, really lack that star to depend on, especially in the backcourt, so the leading scorer needs to be on top of his game.
Jae Crowder: Crowder is the second leading scorer, bringing in nearly 18 a game, but his value is also on the boards. The Golden Eagles can afford a down scoring night from Crowder, but he needs to bring it in a big way in the paint. That is far more important to the Golden Eagles. This was the 113th best rebounding team in the country during the regular season. They are a Top 30 scoring team so the rest of the Golden Eagles can pick up Crowder's slack on a bad scoring day, but the same is not true if he's unable to grab a lot of rebounds.
Marquette is a battle-tested team and has the experience to pull out of tough situations. At one point, in early January, things looked bleak for Buzz Williams' team. Between late December and early January, they lost four out of six games, a stretch which included a loss away to LSU and their only home loss of the year, to the Vanderbilt Commodores. This was simply a case of the scheduling gods not being kind to Marquette, however, as they were handed back to back road games against the Syracuse and Georgetown. After losing both of those games in close and heartbreaking fashion, they ripped off seven straight wins and won 13 of their last 15. In the final game of the regular season, they avenged their loss to the Hoyas.
I think Harvard Crimsons are going to win the championship. Kyle Casey and Keith Wright are the teams strongest players. They are the teams top scoring leaders with 11.3 and 10.7 pointers per game. They had good team chemistry and had high basketball IQs.
Alon Aliverdi
I think Michigan State is going to win the tournament. They have a history of getting far in the tournament. Last time they were the one seed and the last time they won the big ten tournament they won the whole thing. Draymond green is their best player who averages 16.3 points a game. He also leads the team in assists and rebounds. They play as a team which is why they will win
