Period 7- Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, March 14th

So I am a huge college basketball fan and March Madness is just around the corner. I would like for you to get more familiar with college basketball and watch some games during this time. For this Blog, I need for you to tell me which team you think is going to win the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament. I need for you to indicate to me 2 players on that team that you feel are the strongest players (I need first and last names) and explain why. Additionally, please tell me what you think has made this particular team so successful this year. If you don't have a favorite college team, google search the top ten and pick one you like.

I think that the team to watch out for is Kansas. They are lead by the great inside play of Thomas Robinson and great Guard play of Tyshon Taylor. In addition, the three starting guards are seniors and the 2 big men are juniors, so that shows they have experience. What has made them great this year is the experience of their players and their coach Bill Self and arguably having the best big man in the country.(future wizzard) i will be only rooting for one thing this tournement, duke to lose. Go Maryland NIT!!!

Unfortunately for Ms. Dyer, Duke will might win the championship at NCAA. Duke players are hard working and their style of play is really efficient and smart. I mean Duke is easily one of top number 10basketball team.
Duke's two best players are Austin Rivers and Mason Plumlee. Rivers poses unrivaled isolation perimeter socring threat. Not only is he a goot good scorer, he is a great ballhandler. Also Plumlee is great at guarding as well as handling the ball. He averaged 19.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in ACC.

I believe that this year that the Tarheels from University of North Carolina will win the national championship. Currently in the polls we don't see them in the top four but they opened the season being the number one ranked team. I believe UNC will win it all due to many reasons. First, they returned every starter from last season which gives them great leadership and experience for what's coming in the tournament. Second, they have one of the best coaches in the game in Roy Williams. Roy Williams has consistently made UNC a powerhouse since he took over as head coach. Roy Williams a long time ago was under the guidance of the greatest coach in UNC history in Dean Smith. This past year UNC has had alot of ups and downs. Some of the worst parts to the season was losing a supposedly easy game to UNLV and losing starter Dexter Strickland for the whole season. However, with the key starters of Kendall Marshall, Tyler Zeller and Harrison Barnes be prepared to see UNC beating teams in the tournament. Kendall Marshall is one of the best point guards in college basketball because of his ability to control the speed and pace of the game. Physically, Marshall is very quick and has amazing court vision. Tyler Zeller is one of the best big men in college basketball as he has a great ability to score around the rim and play good defense. Harrison Barnes is the best player on UNC. He has the ability to take over the game with his great scoring abilities, his size and athleticism. Barnes for a big guy also has a the ability to knock down open three's. UNC gets great bench play from their two freshman James Mcadoo and PJ Hairston. UNC has unbelievable amount of talent which gives them the ability to take on the best teams. Earlier in the year they lost to Kentucky only by one point but they made a statement proving they can compete with the best. With strong wins over Duke, Michigan State and Virginia UNC makes a good case to be title contenders.

I believe that the Duke Blue Devils will win the NCAA tournament. One of their strongest players is Mason Plumlee. He is one of the best post players in Divison 1, and can out rebound almost anybody. He is also an amazing shot blocker. Duke's other best player is Austin Rivers. He can score from anywhere on the court, and also comes up with a lot of steals. Also, he knows when to dish it outside or get it to Mason for the easy layup. I believe that Duke can win because of their unselfish, but talented play. Every player on the team is amazing, but they all know when to boost their stat line or look for the open man.

I think that Kentucky is gonna win the NCAA tournament because of their two strongest players, Anthony Davis who has great offense and is also a good defender, rebounder, and blocks shots. Also,Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is a tall seven footer that can rebound and shoot well from the free throw line. I think they've been successful because of their one close loss which has helped them mature as a team and because of the talent that they have on the roster. They also play well together and as a team.

i think unc is going to win it all this year. two impact players they have are john henson and harrison barnes. The whole team has a lot of chemistry together because they've been in college together fir 2-3 years. John henson has the best shotblocking length and is good for defense. harrison barnes is the team scorer and they are all around players also. there are no deadspots in the starting 5

Vermont will win. They have Brendan Bald, who is very good at three's. They also have Four McGlynn, he has a great three pointer, a great shot, he can drive, and also take command of the court. This made them succesful because in the past they have made up a good combination. -Caleb Zweig

I believe Kentucky will win the tournament. Lead by the projected #1, and #2 pick in the 2013 nba draft Anthony Davis, And Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. they have too much length and speed and no can run with them.

Kentucky will in the tournament. They have been the best ream all season with the tremedous guard play of of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist , but Anthony Davis has stunned me with his defensive threat, leading the season in blocks. Terrence Jones has also impressed me with his post play and perimeter shooting. He has sparked them with returning this season and opting out of the NBA last year. Calipari is a great coach and this year's team has proven to demonstrate thier talent in addition with the hard work ethic mentality their coach gives them. Although former Kentucky superstars like Derrick Rose and John Wall have proven to make noise in the tourney, this team can do what they failed to do there. That is briging home the hardware to Kentucky once again

UNC

Kendall Marshall, because he has showed to be one of the best point guards this year and really knows how to bring the team together with his passing and scoring.

Tyler Zeller, because he is a solid big man. He has developed a great post game and rebounds the ball well.

They have been a very successful basketball team this year, because they have great chemistry with all the players, play hard every night, and have shown throughout that they can beat the best with what they have.

Well, since everyone just picks the obvious teams....i think a team that could go pretty far is Creighton. I think they have one of the best players in the country, Doug McDermott, averaging 23 points per game, while also averaging 8 rebounds. They also have a solid center, Gregory Echenique, averaging 10 points a game and 7 rebounds. They also won 28 games this season, and only lost 5...if they can get past UNC in the second round, they have a chance to make a run.

I think the team that wil win is kansas university i was born in kansas and will always cheer for them. The have tyshon talor and thomas robinson as jason said and they are starting fresh since their players are mostly new. However they have a great coach to take them all teh way

FSU will win the championship because of there past success in big games. FSU has managed to beat powerhouses like Duke and North Carolina on their way to winning the ACC title. Michael Snaer is a beast 6-5 gaurd who is capable of making the clutch shots, while forward Bernard James has proven he can get rebounds in the paint. The team also uses their athleticism to play solid defense and contest opponents shots.

Because I have been a fan of the North Carolina Tar heels, I hope they win the March Madness. Two very strong players on the team are Tyler Zeller because of his high field goal percentage and John Henson for his high amount of blocked shots and rebounds.I believe that the amount of skill in this one team is enough to win.

North Carolina
Harrison Barnes- He is great at keeping his composure while dribbling down the court and is a great outside shooter.
Tyler Zeller- He has amazing post moves to get that easy short shot and is a good rebounder which is important.
I think what has made UNC so successful this year is that they work really well together making them better than the other teams and on offense they pass the ball just enough times before they shoot or drive in, which shows how well they understand the game.

GO UNC!

um...duke is gonna win. They are obviously one of the top ten best teams because of their dedication, play style and just overall skill. The team is lead by many well rounded players, but the best 2 probably would have to be Austin rivers and Seth curry. Seth is vey athletic and was number 1 during his freshman year. He has a 13.4 ppg 2.6 rpg and 2.5 apg. Austin shoots very accuratly and get open space. Teamwork. Thats why they are gonna be succesfull

I believe the Missouri Tigers are going to win the championship this year. Two players to watch are Phil Pressey and Kim English. Phil Pressey is a great all around point guard,a great passer, and can take Missouri to the championship game. Kim English is an experienced senior guard, putting put the second highest points per game on the team. English can put up big numbers against great teams. Missouri has been successful this year by being able to beat great teams like Baylor (3 times) and Kansas. Also, they only lost one game at home this year.

-I think Missouri will win the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.
-One of the best players on Missouri is Marcus Denmon. This is because he has the most points per games and the most steals on his team.
-Another really good player on Missouri is Kim English. This is because he has the second most points on his team and he is really good at three point shooting.
-This team has been so successful so far because they have some really well rounded players and they have a great defensive game and all of this has shown on their record.

I think Duke. Austin River and Chris Punmee and they are the two leaders on their team. Chris rebounds a lot and has a three point shot. And Austin River takes over and people look up to him.

I think Kentucky is going to win this years tournament. I think this because Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis can't be stopped. They have been successful this year because no one can get by them.

In my opinion, I think Duke will win the NCAA tournament. Watching past Duke games, their players work hard and move efficiently and and shoot with unparalleled accuracy. From what I've researched, two of Duke's best players are Austin Rivers and Mason Plumlee. Rivers is a great shooter, driver, and most importantly, a great ballhandler. Overall, he is without a doubt a great player who is definitely in the top ten college basketball players. Plumlee himself is exceptional at guarding, not to mention handling. He alone averaged 19 points, 14.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game in the ACC.

Syracuse has a GREAT Defense, and Fab Melo can control Antony Davis down low. Dion Waiters and Scoop Jardine will keep Kidd-Gilchrist and Teague from posing as a threat. (Though Jardine and Kidd is a great matchup) UNC is just as long and just as talented as UK. But the X-factor will be Harrison Barnes who is experienced enough to give UNC the edge. Lest we forget Henson, Zeller, and Marshall. If UK is gonna beat any of those teams then Doron Lamb or Darius Miller need to have a big game or breakout performance. Cuse and UNC are just as physical as Terrence Jones. So that is why I have UNC winning it.

I think that Baylor will wint the tournment bracket because all their players are so versitile. perry Jones the 3rd and Quincy Miller are NBA bound. The point gaurd Pieare Jackson is always in attack mode and can shoot lights out. Their forwand Qunicy Acy is a rebounding monster.

I think North Carolina will win the NCAA tournament. Tyler Zeller, the ACC player of the year, dominates the inside and get almost every rebound. His teammate, Harrison Barnes, is a fantastic as well. He
is very athletic and can score from anywhere on the court. The main strategy that UNC will utilize to win the NCAA tournament is to either get the ball to the outside for the jumper, and have Zeller catch the rebound for the easy layup, or get it to Zeller or Barnes inside for dunk or layup. UNC will win the NCAA tournament with their versatile style of play.
