Football terminology and rules quiz. Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability. Each question is worth 2 points.

1. Who was the first team to ever win the Super Bowl?

3. Name and explain a pass pattern we ran in class. What does the running backs and wide receivers do?

2. A line crossing the football field where a team cannot pass until the next play has begun.

3. One pass pattern is called a hook pattern. A hook pattern is when a wide receiver runs down the field and hooks in to catch the throw from the quarterback. A widereciever is an offensive player whose function is to catch the passes. A running back is an offensive player who tries to carry the ball from the line scrimmage.

3. Hook In- Where all wide recievers go out and then move in.
RBs run the ball and ocassionally recieve passes if the WRs arent open. WRs usually go out and recieve long passes from the QB.

2. The line of scrimmage is an imaginary line crossing the football field, which the offensive team can cross once the play begins, and the defensive team can cross after 5 seconds or blitz. The line is where the last play was ended.
3. One pattern we ran in class was the fly, where the receivers run straight ahead. A running back (RB) is the position of a player who usually lines up in the offensive backfield, and the wide receiver,is the pass-catching specialist. Wide receivers are among the fastest and most agile players in the game.

2. this is an imaginary line at which the previous play ended and neither team may pass prior to the snap

3. Fleaflicker, which is when the quarterback hands off the ball to a running back who before passing the line of scrimmage laterals the ball back to the quarterback. The quarterback has then confused the opposing team and then looks for an eligible reciever to pass to. A running back get handoffs from the quarterback to perform rushes or catch passes from the backfield. A wide reciever is on the edge of the offensive line and is excellent for catching forward passes.

2 The imaginary line that the ball is snapped from, each team must be on their side of the line of scrimmage before the ball is snapped or a penalty will be called. The quarterback cannot throw the ball forward after he/she has passed the line of scrimmage.

3 ex: the down and out. The receivers and running backs run 5-10 steps and then turn to the outside, away from the quarterback.

4 The kickoff starts from the forty yard line in high school football.

The running back runs out a large distance, then turns and runs in, then turns towards the quarter back and prepares to receive a pass. The running back runs out a short distance, then in a short distance ,then turn towards the Quarter back to receive a pass

3) A post pattern is a forward pass that the quarterback throws down the center of the field as the intended receiver runs toward the goalpost. On a post pattern, a receiver will start by running straight downfield before turning and running at an angle toward the goalpost. If it is a deep post pattern the running back will hit the wide receiver.

2. The line of scrimmage is where the ball starts or was last dropped or stopped. It is also where the Center snaps the ball to the quarterback. The teams cannot cross the line of scrimmage to the other side before the quarterback calls "hike."

3. One pass pattern we ran in class is the "Button Hook" pattern. When the quarterback calls "hike," the running backs on the side of the quarterback run straight forward and then turn around to face the quarterback and catch the ball, then keep running forward the original direction.

4. A kickoff in high school starts from the 40 yard line.
