Period 7- Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, April 1st
In class we are just starting our 3 on 3 unit. A critical part of this unit is going to be setting screens and reading the defense. Please watch the video below and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 2 points. Please make sure to write your name on your Blog.




1. When you set a screen, do you set the screen on a person or an area?

2. What are 3 things the offensive player can do when they are being screened?

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

4. What is the most important thing to do when coming off a screen?

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

5.We use screens very often, but they are often ineffective since we usually attempted to screen a person rather than an area.

2.) When the offensive person is being screened they can go back door, they can curl, or they can bump.

3.) You should curl off a screen when the defender is playing you tight and following you.

4.) The most important thing to do when coming off the screen is to read the defense.

5.) My team has been using many screens during game play and it has been very effective in creating open shots.

5.We don't use them that often we would win more if did because we have a nice shooter

2. The three options are Back Door, Curl (Jump Shot/Hard Lay Up), and Bump.
3. You curl off a screen when your defender is following you.
4. The most important thing to do coming off the screen is to read the defender.
5. We use screens pretty often and they have been somewhat effective.

2. He can do a backdoor, curl, and a bump.

3. Defender follows you hard, and then you can cut off him and give the pick person an easy shot.

4. Read the defense, and have 3 options.

5. Our team actually does that pretty well. We actually use screens and well just flow.

4. stay low and be close to the man setting the screen

5.were using them frequently and were actually bumping on screens for shots. yes they have because we are good shooters

I think it is crucial that you can read the defense because if you can read the defense it will create better opportunities for you. For example if you curl off a screen when you were supposed to fade you would still have a defender on you. The way you know if you fade or curl is to read the defense. If you do the correct thing you will most likely have space. Our team does not set screens that often.
