Period 1 - Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, April 1st

In class we are just starting our 3 on 3 unit. A critical part of this unit is going to be setting screens and reading the defense. Please watch the video below and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 2 points. Please make sure to write your name on your Blog.


1. When you set a screen, do you set the screen on a person or an area?

2. What are 3 things the offensive player can do when they are being screened?

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

4. What is the most important thing to do when coming off a screen?

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

5.) no my team does not use alot of screens but we use alot of backdoor cuts which help us get points alot

5. Our team uses screens frequently and therefore gives us open looks at either jumpers or lay-ups.

3. You should curl off a screen when your defender is trailing you right behind your back and gets caught up in the screen.

4. The most important thing to do is rub your shoulder off of the screener's hip and cut hard off of it so the defender cannot recover and jump the screen.

5. Our team uses screens a lot. They have been effective and have opened up driving lanes to the basket as well as open outside shots.

5)Not really we are more of a one on one type of team but when we do screen it ends in confusion as sometimes the man setting the screen doesn't roll but person with ball throws the ball because THEY thought the screener was going to roll

3. After you read the defense, you bring your man down and grab the person that's setting the screen hip and curl off.
4. The most important thing is to bump and make sure your reading the defense.

1. When setting a screen, you should always screen the area for the teammate.
2. The offensive player can perform the: Back Door, Curl, and Bump.
3. I should curl off of a screen if the defender is following me. The curl helps to seal off the defender.
4. Reading the defense is very important when being screened.
5. We try to screen each other whenever we think it is appropriate. They are quite effective when one of us is sealing off defenders for the offensive player on our team to take a clear shot.

2. When ones being screened you should communicate try to elude the screen as fast as possible, and also try to not draw a foul
3. You should curl off when the player begins to drive
4. When coming off a screen the most important thing to do is to try and rub off your screens shoulder
