I saw the hockey players get open and make crisp passes to each other. Also, I saw them doing different types of shots. Such as, a slap shot wrist shot, and a snap shot. Next, concepts that we discussed and are in the video are puck control and puck movement. Finally, my reaction to the gameplay is that they were doing all of these things but not trying like they normally do in the regular season.
In the NHL video, the players had amazing puck control while on skates, which is very impressive. Also, the goalies had very large pads that covered everywhere from their thighs to their feet, and that was the goalie's main may of blocking the goal, by positioning their legs so that the pads are flat on the ground covering the bottom section of the goal. Next, the teammates of the person with the puck are very good at creating space and avoiding defenders, and it seems they do it most when they are near the goal so they can be passed to and score a quick goal. Also, the players use only one hand on their hockey stick sometimes when the puck is a bit far away, but it does not count as a penalty or a rule violation like it does in class. Finally, there are no outs in the NHL but in class when the ball went out many were saying it was a turnover, when it should not be.
Both teams passes a lot. passing was the best way they got past the goalie. The defense was spread out. The transition had to be fast. The teams were both very successful on offense and defense because they used teamwork.
Justin Wu In the NHl all star video, I saw that the players moved the puck quickly from side to side (deke) to fool the goalie and keep the puck. The players in the video also passed the puck to another player right in front of the goal so score more easily. When the players passed the puck to another player, he received it smoothly so that it would not fly over his hockey stick. They passed to each other a lot when the other team was trying to take the puck from them. Another thing i saw was that the scorers faked the goalies and shot to the opposite side of where they were
The players in the game are constantly creating space and passing the puck to one another which makes it harder for the defense to guard them and steal, the puck. They also keep their sticks below their waist when dealing with it. However, they tend to raise them at other times as well. Great ball control is also visible throughout the video and the players are handling the puck the same way we learned how to in class. It amazed me how fast pace the game moved.
Some of the concepts that we learned in class that were applied in the game were passing and creating space. During the game I noticed that the offensive team would pass very often, even when the player had an oppertunity to shoot the puck. I also noticed that the players on both teams were spread out, not clumped together, in order to create passing oppertunities. After watching the video, I was amazed by the difficulty of some of the goals scored. I liked now the teams were picked by two captions, in opposed to how teams used to be determined by the player's confrence. Wes Carr Per 1
Brandon Hall 1. move the puck extremely well 2. move when the puck isnt on their stick 3. players go to open space 4. anticipate where the puck is going 5. very fast skilled players
In the video, there is a lot of movement taking place. There is also a lot of strategic plays. There are give and goes. There are players passing a lot. These players also moved for eachother, leaving open options everywhere.
Reyna Hadhiman The video was entertaining to watch even though I'm not into hockey. The players shoot where the goalie isn't blocking. They shoot fast enough so that their opponent doesn't try to take the puck from them. The concept we learned is to go back and forward with the puck to yourself while moving. We should also pass to a teammate that is not guarded by any opponent.
The video includes many of the rules for hockey that we discussed in class, such as to not swing your hockey stick above waist level or so. I noticed that the team members in the video are really good at dribbling the puck/staying in control of it. Also, they pass to each other a lot. In addition to that, the hockey players are spread out and don't all crowd around the puck. I thought that both teams were pretty good because the score was close almost the whole game.
Austin Mustich: I saw checking and lots of fast passing. In order to score you must have focus on players and the puck. Passing makes scoring easier also. Checking will not be allowed in our class. Teamwork is key to success for the sport.
I saw lots of passing especially at the goal causing the goalie to be confused about where the puck was coming from. Also, the players had very good control of the puck and moved around to get open. The defense also cleared the puck when it was on their side so the offense could not get a chance to score. The defense often also stole the puck away from the offense, or hindered the offense from scoring by attempting to do so.Finally, when the puck was stolen from the offense, the defender who stole the puck would often go on a breakaway and score on the opposing team's goal before their defense had time to get back. -Conrad Hong
The players make lots of runs to spread out the defense and get an open shot. They also do quick give-and-go's around the defenders. These two things also bring the goalie out of position for an easy goal. When the offensive team sets up the attack, they place a player in front of the goalie to block his vision. I think if we passed and moved more, we could get more goals too.
The players try to pass the puck around to get open shots. Players also would get good shots by using juke moves and shot fakes to get into open space. Because players weren't trying on defense because they did not want to get injured, offensive players were able to take lots of quality shots which is why there were a lot of goals scored. The goalies tried to block the puck by keeping their body, stick, and glove in between the shooter. The defenders would also try to block the shots with their sticks, as we try to do in class
1. they always keep their heads up. 2. they do a lot of back door plays. 3. they pass a lot. 4. they always spread out. 5. both teams face a lot of 2-on1 and 1-on-2 situations.
I noticed many concepts that we have learned in class such as passing. The offensive players were always spread apart so that they could create passing lanes and moves up to the goal. They passed often and always made sure the passes were accurate. They would pass even even they had the a clear shot. The was very fast paced and there was a never a stop in motion.
In the NHL All Star Video, The hockey players had great puck control and were able to complete fast passes. In addition, they passed back and forth to confuse the goalie and create an open space to shoot and score. Also, they did different types of shots like the wrist shot and a slap shot. Some concepts that we have discussed in class were passing, being able to control the puck very well, and also using only one hand on the stick but it wasn't a penalty in the NHL but it is in our class. Lastly, it surprised me that in the gameplay, both teams scored many points
In The NHL video, the players all had good passing techniques.I also noticed the gear the players where wearing, goalies wearing gear to protect the face and all. Another thing i noticed was they gave some space in class theres like barley any space to hit the puck. The players also make sure the stick is below the waist. Shayla Hall
Both teams made clean and targeted passes. The passing was near the net a lot. The defense was always in front and did not go for many turnovers. The passes were all recieved very smoothly and well. Also there are no outs as long as the puck was in the rink.
Andrew Jiang First, I saw the players passing to each other and scoring very quickly. Then, I saw the same situation happen again, except he went around the goal and quickly outmaneuvered the goalie's line of shit. The defense was also very spread out. This contrasts the way the offense was very together. Lastly, my reaction to all of this was awe; as being able to do all of this on ice skates must be extremely hard.
I saw many different kinds of shots made, lots of passing. The goalies also used different parts of their body to block the puck from going into the goal, which is something we don't do very much in gym because we don't have the same protective gear. The players also are able to maneuver and control the puck even with only one hand on the stick, which is really impressive considering they also have to be worried about the speed, the skating itself, and being blindsided and pretty much tackled by the opposing team. They used a lot of teamwork both offensively and defensively. Trung Le
In this video, I saw professional hockey players make accurate and crisp passes to one another to create scoring opportunities. In addition I saw the creation of passing lanes by players who did not have the puck and wanted to create outlets for their teammates. There were many goal scoring opportunities in the video, all of which the players converted with great accuracy and power. Players often utilize the space behind the goalie in order to develop passing lanes and shooting opportunities. Another aspect of hockey that is essential to master is puck control, a trait that these pro players all have in order to skate between and around defenders. -Saad Rashid, Period 1
In this video of goals from the NHL All Star game I saw the players incorporate many good techniques which we have been working on in class. For one I saw a lot of movement to get to an open space to allow for cleaner passes from their teammates. I also saw them moving very quickly and effectively maneuvering and swerving away from the defense. This counts as puck control and movement on the part of the passer and getting to an open space from those trying to get the puck, all things we discussed in class. I liked this gameplay, as this was a special almost no contact game, it was a high scoring one which I enjoy watching because the players get to show off their fancy goal-making skills which are amusing to watch.
In the video the hockey players were very skilled and were at a much higher caliber of playing than us. Their puck control was very skilled. They also used a variaty of shots like the wrist and slap shot. Also the defense was alot more organized and thus more effective. The passes made by the players were very presice. - Hayes Henderson
The hockey players were moving the puck a lot. They also kept the puck in front of them. Another thing that they did was move to puck quickly from one end to the other. THey are also always looking to see where their teamates are. -Zach Baillif
Brendan Timmons I noticed that in the game they passed alot. They use many different types of shots. Puck control and puck movement seemed to be in the video from what we did in class. From watching the video my reaction is amazed at the crazy shots they made.
During the game, I noticed that the players passed alot. The first few goals scored were made by quick passing and shooting. There were also goals scored from the corners of the goals, which sorta were like sneak attack shots. The players were fast and smooth on the ice. They were very sportsman like.
the players had control over the puck. they moved the puck sided to side to confuse the goalie in order to make a goal. they also moved to be open and made good passes to get near the goal and make the shot. they performed different types of shots like slap shots and wrist shots. they dont check people in all star games.
