Period 3 - Specialty Basketball

During this semester, we have worked on several topics relating to improving basketball skills.

1. Fundamental skills, and Movement Skills

2. 1-on-1 Basketball

3. 2-on-2 Basketball

Please explain how each of these topics relate to 5-on-5 basketball play (offensively/defensively).

How successful do you feel with each of these topics?

1) Everyone needs fundemental skills such as dribbling while playing 5 on 5 because everyone will have to handle the ball in 5 on 5.
2) Players need to be able to win 1 on 1 matchups with the ball on offense and play tough 1 on 1 defense.
3) With 2 on 2 players need to use their teamates to help score on offense and play help defense in a 5 on 5 game
I feel very successful with all this topics

1. These skills are related to the 5 on 5 play because you need to know how to dripple pass and shoot and know where to move on the court.

2. 1 on 1 helps is related to 5 on 5 because it helps to allow you to practice your one on one skills and defense.

3. 2 on 2 allows you to move without the ball and work with your partner. It also helps with 2 on 2 defense.

I feel like i am successful at these topics and need a rematch when i wear bball shoes.

fundamental skills/movement skills help your agility in 5on5

1on1 games help with 5on5 for man to man offense/defense

2on2 games help with 5on5 for teamwork (passing, shooting, etc)

While we are playing 2-2 and 1-1 basketball i learn how to make smart passes and decisions while i am in control of the ball. i learned how to play better defense on my oponent if we decide to play man-man full court i would know how to do it. I feel very successful with each of these topics because i feel that i am pretty good at offense and defense while playing basketball

I feel that with all the things whe have worked on so far, each type of skill and situation is shaping us in improveing on our overall skills. With each drill or skill we develop we can then transfer to 5 on 5.

1. fundamental skills are always needed when playing basketball. Player should be able to control and dribble the ball.
2. 1 on 1 improves a player's skill when driving into the basket in a 5 on 5 game. Also, it helps man to man offense/defense.
3. 2 on 2 games help improve player's teamwork abilities such as passing and dribbling

-1 on 1 helps with 5 on 5 because it teaches you how to play man to man defense and drive to the hole.
-2 on 2 teaches you how to defend the pick and roll
-you need fundamental skills in 5 on 5 otherwise you wont be able to help your team

Fundamental skills that i've learned are good ball movement in 2-on-2 and also communication which are important for 5-on-5. Also in 1-on-1 i learned that shot fakes are good ways to get open shots and how to be a triple threat with the ball.

The offensive player needs to move to get open and have a chance to use their fundamental skiils to win a game of 5 on 5. If the offensive man doesnt move or use his skills, the ball wont move. The defensive player needs to move to stay with the offensive man and prevent him from scoring/assisting any points.

With one on one basketball, you are able to work on your dribbling, your offense and your defense...all while building stamina.

With 2 on 2, you have to factor in your teammate so you need to either pass, dribble, or shoot (triple threat).

I feel very successful with all these topics.

1. Fundamental skills are very important when it comes ot team play, it ensures that the ball will be passed around and an open shot will be found and properly executed, movement skills are equally important, they ensure that the team will readily be able to move around defenders, open a pocket for an open shot and take advantage of driving conditions.

2. 1 on 1 is important even in a team game, because being good at that means, if none of your teammates are open and you are forced to drive, you'll be able to successfully score the point.

3. 2 on 2 is important because in a team game if there is no open lane and you're forced to pass to a teammate, 2 on 2 knowlege is important to successfully pass to your teammate or give and go.

I feel i m good with the 1 on 1 and 2 on 2 concepts however my fundamental skills such as shooting and driving skills could use a lot of work, movement is also an issue, i panic sometimes when I have more then one defender on me.
