Period 7- Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, October 7th

We are getting ready to start our 2 on 2 unit.  This unit will focus on getting position and making moves in the post.  Watch the video clip below and answer the following questions.  Please make sure to write your name on your blog.

1. Please indicate 2 ways to get position in the post.

2.  How can you give your opponent a different look in the post?

3.  In the video, Carlos Boozer says that size and build or physique do not determine how successful you will be in the post position.  Do you agree with this? Why or why not?

1 swim move spin move
2 make contact
3 i do agree is because for a post player you have to have good footwork. this is true for Charles Barkley Kobe Bryant use footwork to get the position that they want to be in

1. V-cut swim move to block
2. Fake screen to the block
3. If they have a mismatch in the post it will be an easy bucket
4. I definetely disagree because if the person on offense is stronger they can easily back them down and if they are taller they can shoot overtop of them

1. You can get position in the post by doing a V-cut or you could fake a screen and call for the ball in the low post block
2. You can give your opponent different looks by facing up in the post instead of backing him down. You can then do jab steps, shoot, or drive by him.
3. I agree with Boozer about not having to have a tough, muscular build to be good in the post, because as long as you do the moves correctly, then you can dominate your opponent in the post.

1. You can V-cut then swim move to the basket or you could fake a screen the cut to the post.

2. If the defender is checking you soft face him and take him to the basket. But if he plays you tight you could body him down then try and hook shot.

3. I agree with him because if only depends on your skill not size.

1. You can do a V-cut, then swim move to get the ball, or you can fake a screen and catch the ball.
2. You can give different looks by whether the opponent is up close or defending loosely. If close, control dribble to the hook shot, and if loose, post to the basket.
3. I agree because it only depends on your ball handling skills instead of size.

1. You can V-cut with a seim move or you could fake a screen to get down to the post

2. If the defender plays tight u can back him
down and put up a hook shot but if he plays u loose u can drive on him or face him and make a move

3. I agree because playing in the post is more skill than size. There are many good post players in the NBA that are not as big as others

1. you can do a V-cut move and swim move to catch the ball, or you can fake a screen and call for the ball in the low post block.

2. you can fake him or if he plays you palm u can drive-by throw or if he plays tough you may body him down and take the shoot.

3. I agree with him because people can be awesome dribblers but they are short and they can still score but there are also long strong people who can't play basketball so it doesn't matter how long you are but all that matters is being good and nice dribbler.

1)The v-cut and then the spin move
2)make contact in the post, or try to jab step, or try to dribble past your opponent.
3)I agree because you don't have to be tall to be good in the post, however being tall won't hurt

1. You can v-cut using a swim move to get to the block or do a fake screen and then catch the ball on the block.

2. You could face up the defender, pass out of the post, or do a move you haven't done before.

3.I agree because although size is an advantage, footwork and how skilled you are in the post is a bigger factor.

1. Spin move and V-cut
2. you can do a fake screen on your opponent or back him down
3.I agree, because as a small person I can still be successful in the post, with the right technique.

1)V-cut and spin move
2)make contact
3)I agree because you don't have to be tall to post well, but when it comes to the whole game of basketball being tall can help.

1. spin move and v-cut
2. when you catch the ball you can square up and give your defender a jab step to try and get him off balance
3. I agree with him because you could be very short and still be good in the post

1. You could do a v-cut and then a spin move or you could fake a screen and then spin and slide down to the low post and call for the ball.

2. You can make contact in the post, and if the defender is guarding you hard, then you can do a hook shot or if he guards you loose you can face him or try a move like a jab step.

3. Yes I agree because you can easily be a strong guy, but if you don't make good post moves and have bad technique, you won't be very successful. Also, A slender guy, especially if they're tall, can still make good moves and put up hook shots and be successful in the post.
