Ms Dyer,

During the invasion games, we learned about defending the goal. We could defend the basket in basketball just like we did in the invasion games.

Some ways to defend the "goal" in basketball would be to play a strong defense. If you have enough mad ups, you can jump and block the ball after it's been shot.

If not, as the case would be for most, you can block the ball as it leaves the shooter's hands or indirectly defend the goal by intercepting a pass, blocking a pass, etc.

In invasion games, the main objectives are to score as many goals by invading the other teams' territory and stopping the other team from invading your territory. Applying this to basketball, I would say that:
- the team has to defend their chance to score as many goals by invading the opposing teams' territory
- the team has to defend their hoop so the opposing team is unable to invade their territory and score through their hoop
This means the team has to pass well and have speedy and effective tactics so they can both defend their place on the other teams' territory, thus defending their points and defend their territory from the other team, thus defending their hoop. Defense in both cases has to be lightning quick, or else this opposing side will probably have an opportunity to steal the ball and invade your territory. The plan has to be somewhat formed for the speed to come off so team mates will be where they are supposed to be to defend their goals or hoop. Passing is a must to prevent guarding from the other team, which is often how the ball is taken. Your team has to be able to guard as well, so they should spread out as much as possible when the other team has the ball and each pick a player to guard. They should learn the opposing teams' style as well; if one person often scores on the other team, they should be more heavily guarded than the others...etc. Defense is crucial; if you only have good offense, the other team will too.

One way we can defend the goal is to have the tallest player be near the goal to block any attempts made by the other team.

Also in our basketball unit, we have have to defend the goal, which is our basket. We can defend our goal by either playing zone defense or man to man defense. In man to man, we have to stand between the opponent and the basket. A player between the opponent and the baskset would prevent the opponents from scoring a goal.

By using the approach of defending the goal the other team could be blocked froms scoring and therefore making your defence better. Also by defending the goal with man to man defense both man and goal can be defended.

When defending the basket in basketball, one of the key things you must remeber is that you need to be between the ball and the basket. You can play either man to man where you guard a person or zone D where you cover a specific place on the court.

I can apply defending the goal in our basketball unit by playing a tight man to man defense and always being between my man and the basket. This will provide a strong defense and not allow the other team to score as many baskets.

Defending the basket is almost the samething as the other games. Just like in football and soccer, in basketball you'd have to cover players so that you can intercept passes. You also have to stand between your man and the basket preventing him from scoring.

The defense we can do in basketball is creating space and passing the ball to teammates when they are open. Also, when the opponent players have control of the ball, have one player stay close to each of the open opponent players to try and prevent them from gaining possession.

In basketball, you need to stay between your player and the basket, which is man-to-man defense like in the invasion games. Also like the invasion games, defense can be played either man-to-man or in zones in basketball.

Max Katz said simply,

During the invasion games unit, a strategy that my team (the Titans) used was to play tough, physical man-to-man defense as well as dropping one person into the paint to stop anyone who dared to drive towards the basket.

How we can defend the goal (basket) in basket ball is to play man-to-man def. or to play sone def. My team manily played man-to-man because we found it alot eaiser to just saty with a man then to try and stay in your spot. we also put our tallest guy in the pait to block people who drive the ball in.

We can defend by having player who has skill and we also have to block players from another team. do not let them to shoot easily.

To "defend the goal" in basketball, you can play a man-to-man or a zone defense to prevent the other team from getting open oppurtunities to score. In man-to-man, you must rely on each player to cover their man in order to play good defense. Zone defense can prevent one player from easily cutting away from his man to get open. Both of these strategies can be successful when every player contributes.

In basketball, one way to prevent the opposing team from scoring is to play tight man to man defense and guard each man closely. This way, the other team will have a harder time concentrating on the accuracy of their shots.

The goal was the basket, and to defend it we had to be man on man, so everyone has a person to defend, but also between your man and the basket. Getting inbetween your man and the basket could prevent and goal or you could end up getting the ball for your team.

During the invasion games we played man to man defense and in basketball we also play man to man defense.

One way to defend the goal is to play a zone defense and hang back. Keeping the defense tight will prevent anyone from driving in or passing in the paint. Forcing the other team to take and miss outside shots will not let them get as many points. Another way is to play man to man defense and get between your man and the hoop. If everyone stays between their man and the goal, whatever the other team does will still be guarded against.

In the basketball unit, we could do man to man defense which means everybody on our team is assigned to somebody on the other team to cover and prevent them from shooting the ball. We could also do zone defense which means everybody on our team covers their own area of the court no matter how many people are there.

During the evasion games, the importance of defending the goal was to keep the opposing team from scoring. The same thing is applied to the basketball unit since the point of the game is to keep the other team from scoring more goals than you. Also it was easier if you used different strategies to defend the goal.

My team used man to man defense to defend our goal. This could be applied to basketball in the same way.

The invasion games taught us how to guard and defend the goals like in hockey, flag football, etc. In basketball, we can apply the same idea when protecting the basket. More people can play defense around the basket, rather than all players heading on offense.

During the invasion games unit, we grasped the conept of defending and guarding the goal. In basketball, the same concept can be applies when guarding the basket and having a strong defense rather than all players acting on offense mode.

In invasion games we had to defend the goal in order to prevent the other team from scoring and winning. In basketball we had to play a strong defense to stop them from getting points too.

In the basketball unit, we defended the basket because that was the goal in the game.Besides guarding the goal, we were able to defend it by taking the ball and taking the offensive.

Max Goldschein- During the invasions game unit, we learned that you need to defend the goal, and find effective way to attack your opponents goal without letting the other team score on you.

In basketball you need to play man to man to prevent them from scoring. You would need to play man to man because it was the best strategy in the invasion games. In basketball the whole point was to stop the other team from scoring to win.

In the invasion games unit we learned that it is vital to have a good defence. In the same way that we had to defend the goal during the invasion games, we also had to make sure that we stayed between our man and the basket in basketball.

We learned how to play man to man defense, so we can use that to our use in basketball. This is where the player stands between the basket and the opponent.

We defend the goal usually by having our best player go up against the other teams best player, this works well for blocking - Jack Epstein

Ok Mrs.Dyer I think this is the right blog. During the invasion games we learned about defending our goal. We can apply to what we learned in basketball by playing a man to man defense or a zone defense just like we did in football. If you stay between your man and the goal or basket you have a better chance of giving your opponent a harder time to move in for a point. By doing this you are providing a strong defence to your team and giving the other team a harder time to score.

we defended the goal by playing good defense, usually man-to-man. and if the ball was passed, we tried to intercept it
