Period 6 - Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, Ocotober 15th

We are currently in our 2 on 2 unit, watch the video clip below and answer the following questions about post offense and sealing your man. Please make sure to write your name on your blog.

1. Because as soon as the pass is passed then you have to be able to get open.
2. By using the Forearm Wall.
3. Keep them from moving in front of you to steal the ball.
4. So that the defender doesn't steal the ball as you receive the ball.
5. The you release from the defender and go to the ball.

1.It is important to anticipate the pass so that you know which side the pass is coming from and so you can seal the defender.
2. You should use your forearm and let the defender run into it.
3. Pivot the Inhibit is when you pivot to turn your body around, which seals the defender.
4. When you chin the ball, you have better control and the defender has a much harder time going around the elbows and hitting the ball.
5. Position for Possession is moving away from the defender to the ball so that the defender will not come and steal the ball.

2) To make the contact, it is best to use "the forearm wall".
3) "Pivot to Inhibit" is a way of saying that you use your footwork and body to seal the defender behind you.

5) "Position for Possession" means, when the ball is thrown, you release from your defender and catch the ball.

1. so when the ball is passed to your side you can have a chance at receiving the ball
2. using your forearm and allow your defender to run into your arm and seal.
3. means you pivot around your man to keep him at the same spot hence to use of "inhibit"
4.so when you get the ball someone doesn't steal for make you lose the balls.

1) It is important to anticipate the pass because it ensures that the pass doesn't catch you by surprise, and allows you to get yourself in the best position possible.

2) You should make contact with a forearm wall, using your top arm and top foot.

3)Pivot to inhibit means making contact with the forearm wall and stopping the defender from moving around or above you

4) Holding the ball under your chin makes it much more difficult for the defender to knock it out of your hands

5) Position for possession means you release from the defender and go to the ball instead of just sitting back and waiting for the ball to come to you

1. It is important to anticipate the pass because then you know where the ball is going and how to get into a good position for the pass.

2. To make contact, you make the "Forearm wall" by sticking out your elbows.

3. Pivot to Inhibit means to keep them from moving on top of us and so to not let them steal the ball.

4. Chinning the ball is important because it stops the defender from knocking the ball out of our hands.

5. Position for possession means that when the ball is thrown, we want to release from the guy thats guarding us so that we can get possession of the ball.

1. It is important to anticipate the pass because you then have the opportunity to step in and seal your man so you are in a position to receive the pass.
2. You should make contact by using the “forearm wall” as a sturdy contact to meet the defender.
3. Pivot to inhibit means to use your footwork and body to seal the defender behind you and keep them from moving.
4. It is important to chin the ball so you can prepare for the move you are going to make and so nobody can hit the ball out of your hands.
5. Position for Possession mean to release from your defender and meet the ball as the pass is coming in so you can get to the ball instead of the defender intercepting it.

1. So that you can shift to the right place on depending on where the ball is. Also you can potentially steal the ball

1. So that you can seal your man and be ready before the ball gets there.
2. Putting out a steady forearm (without extending) and pivoting into them and sealing.
3. It means to pivot in such a way that the defender can't move around to steal the pass.
4. It's important because chinning prevents the guard (or help defense) from coming down and tipping the ball out of your hands. It's sturdier.
5. It means to release your man and go out and meet the pass. Because if you wit for the ball to come to you, it can get stolen.

1. So that as the ball is being swung around the perimeter, you can get a jump on the pass and either snag the ball or seal off your man.
2. Use the forearm wall to make contact with the defender.
3. Pivoting your foot in order to keep them from moving or stealing the ball.
4. If you chin the ball, it will help you keep position and prevent the defender from stealing the ball.
5. Release from the defender to gain good position and go get the ball.

1. It is important to anticipate the pass so you can block/seal off the offensive player that you are guarding defensively.

2. I should make contact with my man via the forearm wall. I should make about a 90 degree angle with my arm and use it to block the offensive player I am guarding.

3. To pivot to inhibit means to follow up my forearm wall with planting my foot and pivoting about it. I then pivot into a position that blocks the offensive player I am guarding.

4. It is important to chin the ball and stick my elbows out because that makes it harder for other players to simply knock the ball out of my hand.

5. Position for possession means to first seal my man, then when his teammate passes the ball to him, I leave my man and go grab the ball, followed by chinning the ball.

1. To seal your man when the ball is passed around the perimeter.

2. Use the "forearm wall" to make contact and seal the defender and make then run into your arm so you won't get the foul called on you.

3. To keep the defender from moving by using the forearm wall to make contact with their chest and and pivot your butt onto the defenders leg so they can't get around you.

4. So the defender can't steal the ball out of your hands.

5. Go towards the ball when the pass is coming towards you.

5. Position for possession means to move towards the ball when the pass is given so the defender doesn't get the steal or poke it out of bounds.
