Period 6 - Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, September 17th

We are currently in our 1 on 1 unit.  We have discussed triple threat and several ways to create space or separation from your opponent in class.  Please watch the video below of Kevin Durant and LeBron James.

1.  Please name 2 ways that Kevin Durant or LeBron James created space or was able to get to the basket or open to get their shot off .  Be specific when you name a move that he used.

2.  Explain how his ability to read the defense allowed him to be so successful in this game  (use the same player you talked about in question #1).

3.   Finally, please tell me which player you think is more of an offensive threat and why.

1) Lebron James created space by doing a step back move and a spin move.

2) Lebron tried to cut off Kevin Durant's strong side which created a turnover and a scoring opportunity which makes him an offensive threat.

3) I think they are both offensive threats in different ways but I think Lebron James is more of an offensive threat because he is more physical in the paint.

I accidentally put my comment in period four's comment box.sorry

they both did step backs and some sort of cross over/ spin move.

Their ability to read defense allows them to be so successful is because when ever a defender sags a little to much kevin durant or lebron james shoot the ball and when defense is very aggresive they attack the basket.

i belive that KD is a bit more of a offensive threat because he reads defense a bit better then LJ.

1. Kevin Durant was able to make space by using a crossover and then driving to the hoop, or by having a teammate setting a pic.
2. On most of KD's points, he is the one dribbling the ball down the court. This gives him time to read what all the defensive players are doing and plays accordingly.
3. I think that on the offensive side, Kevin Durant is more of a threat because he can make more shots than LeBron (especially outside shots), and he always knows where his teammates are and what they are going to do.

Kevin Durant uses crossovers and hesitations. He knew which players would play too close and wouldn't rush into a shot instead would watch the floor and look for oppurtunities. I think LeBron is more of an offensive threat because he is more consisitent and can get to the basket easier because of his size.

Kevin durant did a lot of step backs and he made a bunch a floaters too.

Because he was able to read the defense, he knew when it was a good time to either shoot, pass, or drive.

Kevin Durant is more of a threat because he has inside and outside game. Lebron does too, Lebron likes to take it in more. I might be biased, though, because I hate Lebron James.

1. Kevin Durant creates space by spinning and doing crossovers with the ball
2. Reading the defense makes Durant so successful because he can create space and keep the ball until he decides to make a shot or pass the ball
3. Durant is more of a threat because he can shoot from anywhere on the court or make tricky passes.

1. KD used the pull up and the runner to get his shot off

2. KD's ability to read the defense allowed him to get more shots off during the game, like when to iso and when to pass the ball

3. Their both an offensive threat but KD is an bigger offensive threat because he has an outside and inside game. Also KD won MVP so he is more of a threat

1. Two ways that Kevin Durant used to create space was by using the step back move and the crossover.

2. Kevin Durant uses the defense to be successful because by seeing how the defense is set up, he can determine what kind of move can beat the defense thus allowing him or a teammate of his to score.

3. I think that Kevin Durant is more of an offensive threat because he is a much more pure shooter than James, and always finds a way to score whether it's winding his way through the defense or creating space for a jump shot.

Kevin Durant tended to use a lot of spin moves. He also did some stepbacks, but so did LeBron James.

Durant's ability to read the defense allowed him to predict what they would do next, allowing him to negate it and confuse the defensive player.

Kevin Durant is more of an offensive threat to me because he just knows what to do when he sees the defense. LeBron James can obviously do the same, but Kevin Durant shows that he can do it more.

1. LeBron James used a step back and spin move to create space for a open shot.

2. LeBron James' ability to read the defense during the game allowed him to be successful because when you read the defense, you can find the open places on the court which he did to get open shots.

3. it is hard to say which is the better offensive threat. I honestly think LeBron is the better all around player because he can score in any way possible and he is stronger than KD and really one of the only advantages to KD is his height so I am going to have to say LeBron James is a bigger offensive threat.

1)LeBron James used the crossover and the stepback in order to create space.
2)LeBron's ability to read the defense allowed him to be successful. For example, since LeBron is such a strong finisher in the paint, his presence in the paint draws extra defenders towards him. In one of the plays, this is exactly what happened and LeBron was able to read this and as an extra defender was drifting over to him, he was able to deliver a pass to an open DWade for an easy layup.
3) LeBron is clearly more of an offensive threat. His ability to finish strong in the paint, make shots despite contact, make mid range jumpers/ three pointers, and make accurate and precise passes makes him an offensive threat.

1) Lebron James created space by spin moves as well as step back move.

2) When a defender was playing off of Lebron a little bit, he knew that he could take a jumper. If the defender was playing too tight, Lebron knew that he could go in for the lay-up

3)I think that both Lebron James and Kevin Durant are offensive threats but I think that KD is more of an offensive threat because he is a good outside shooter and he's good in the paint.

1. lebron James used a spin move so he could step back and make space

2.Durant read the defense so he could see their next move.

3.Durant is better at offense because of his ability to read the defensive players.

1. Lebron did a step back and a spin move

2. He was able to read the defense well which gave him 3 options to either read the defense, pass the ball or shoot the ball.

3.I think Lebron is a more offensive threat because he can create space shoot 3's, drive to the basket and post up in the paint.

1) they both used the step back and kd used the cross over.
2)LeBron took his time to see what the tunder's defense would do then he attacked
3)but qd had a better offensive threat because he was really fast.

1) KD uses crossovers and step backs
2) KD's ability to read the defense allows him to figure out what choice is best for him (Shot, pass, or dribble)
3) KD because he is taller so he can post up and he has a better outside shot

1. Kevin durant was able to create space by doing a crossover and spin move.

2.his ability to read the defense allowed to him to be so successful because whenever he says that the defense is weak is when they start to drive and pass.

3.i think Kevin durant is more of an offensive threat because he is better at reading the defense and knowing when to shoot, pass or drive

1.Kevin Durant was able to make space by using the step back move then taking his jumpshot or using a crossover and then taking his jumpshot.
2.Durant is able to easily read the defense and see where there are opportunities to make a basket.
3.I think Durant is more of an offensive threat because he has a better jumpshot and he will pass to his teammates if they have a better shot.

Kevin Durant used a step back and crossover move to create separation from the defense.

Durants ability to read the defense meant that he was able to use whatever move he wanted in order to create space to get a shot off r drive to the basket.

I believe Kevin Durant was more of an offensive threat due to his ability to read the defense so well and know exactly what he has to do to score.

Lebron used a crossover and step back

He reads how the defense reacts to a jab step

Lebron is more of a threat cause of his moves

Lebron did a spin move and a step back to create space

When reading the defense lebron pays attention to how they react to his jabs so he knows which move to do next

Lebron is more of a threat because of his strength and versatility

1) LeBron James usally would do a spin move and a stepback.
2) LeBron was succesful in the game because he was always q step ahead of the defense.
3) LeBron James is more of a serious threat because his size and speed dominates the game.

1. Lebron used a spin move and a step back move.
2. Lebron's knowledge of the game and spatial awareness allows him to weave through the defense.
3. I believe Lebron is more powerful and therefore a bigger threat.

kevin was able to do a cross over

leborn also did a spin move

I think leborn is more of a threat because he has better ball handling skills
