Period 1 - Advanced Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, March 26th
In class we are just starting our 3 on 3 unit. A critical part of ths unit is going to be setting screens and reading the defense. Please watch the video below and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 2 points. Please make sure to write your name on your Blog.

1. When you set a screen, do you set the screen on a person or an area?

2. What are 3 things the offensive player can do when they are being screened?

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

4. What is the most important thing to do when coming off a screen?

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

4.make sure you have three options
5. We never set screens because our players don't need them. We all can create our own shot.

5)When I play basketball we use screens alot and theres a play we call motiona dn we just screen and cut.

5. We don't use screens very much. When we do use them they are effective.

2. The offensive player can proceed to cut back door, curl off the screen, and "bump" to either create an open shot or a quick drop down in the post
3. A player should curl after the defender follows the player that the screened was drawn up for
4. Reading the defense to see what the optimal offensive movement is
5. We've been using it mostly to create open looks for a jump shot or drive.

2)run around it, pick and roll, or fake around the pick and go the other way
3)when there is no defender around
4) to roll towards the basket
5) multiple times every game. they are very effective

4. The most important thing to do when coming off of a screen is to read the defense's reaction in order to determine what do do next, like rubbing off the person who sets the screen.
5. My team uses screens a lot. They are quite effective.
