There are many ways to create space in basketball. one way to create space is the cross over move. Another way is to do a jab step before your shot.
The classic jab-step move is a great move to create space. Often, a jab-step is such an accurate fake move, that it can give you enough room to take a jumper. Also sometimes when the defender is playing tight man defense, and the guard wants to create space so he can make a shot, he can do the fade-away jump shot. Just to add another move players can use to create space, is the pass fake. This fake allows the player’s defender do react away from the man and the ball, creating space and time for the player to make an outside shot.
One way to get open is to v-cut. you run in towards the block and then cut sharply and run back out. this works because making quick turns will throw off the defender. Another way is to pick and roll. This helps to get you and the person with the ball open. you run up and stand right behind the ballhandlers defender. Then when the person with the ball dribbles past you, their defender will run into you, unalbe to follow the other player. after you set the pick, you pivot and run towards the basket, looking for the ball. These are two effective ways to get open in basketball. -Madison Tse
Two ways are to do a jab step and also to do v cut to create space between you and the defender. If that doesn't work a person can set a pick and go to the hoop.
In basketball, there are many different ways a player can create space between themselves and the defender. One of the most common being a jab step, as well as a pick set by another player.

1. pick
2. step back
to create space you can step back before you take a shot or you can do the same thing with a crossover or you could just jab step.

jab step and pick will help create space between you and your defender and easier to pass the ball to one of your partners
