Period 6 -Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, December 3rd
In class we have been working on setting screens and discussing reading the defense in our 3 on 3 unit. Please watch the video below and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 2 points. Please make sure to write your name on your Blog.

1. When you set a screen, do you set the screen on a person or an area?

2. What are 3 things the offensive player can do when they are being screened?

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

4. What is the most important thing to do when coming off a screen?

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

1. When setting a screen, you are setting it on an area.
2.He can back door (change directions), curl around the screener, or a bump.
3. You should curl when the defender follows you, which can leave a man open.
4. When coming off of a screen, a player should read the defense.
5. Screens have not been used much by my team, however when we do use them, they are effective in creating offensive opportunities.

5. My team would use a screen on the most rare occasion. But even if we haven't been using screens often, they are very efficient because every member can go easily around the screener.

5. My team uses screens pretty often, and they work because it opens up a lane to the basket, creating many scoring opportunities.

1. When you set a screen, you screen an area so that the screen is always in the same place thus also blocking the man.

2. Three things the offensive player can do when they are being screened are to cheat, go one way and switch to the other to get open. This is also called a backdoor. Also, they can run a curl to get an open shot. Lastly, you can run a bump.

3. You should curl when the defender follows you off a screen.

4. The most important thing to do when coming off a screen is to read the defender to see where you can get open.

5. Our team uses screens mildly during our games. When we do screen, they are very effective and give our shooters a more wide open shot.

5. My team has been using screens occasionally during out games. They have been effective for my team because it allows a better opportunity for a player to get open.

4.) grab the screeners hip so that the defender can't follow you as easily/ get through

5.) no I don't think my team has ever set a screen during the 3 on 3 tournament and it has worked better than expected but I do think that using screens could help
