Our basketball unit has been extended due to the Main gym floor damage. Explain the importance of your teams defensive play during your league games. Choose a team (include team name) and describe how you would play that team (Match-ups and why?).

It is important to play defensively as well as offencively. Without defence, my team would not be able to block shots and get rebounds. If Nike (my team) were to play the Gumdrops, i would probably match myself up with either Kalli or Alice, Mike with Byron, and John with sean. It would go that way based on skill and height.

If we were to play the Miami Heat we would need great defense. We would probably double guard Dwayne Wade since he is one of the best basketball players. Our defense would be key on the defeat of the Miami Heat.
Defensive play is very important is basketball. It is important that we limit the other team's score, so we are not constantly playing catch-up. One team that we would match up well against is Dynamo. I believe our team would have a distinct height advantage, and combined with our level of play, there would be a recipe for success.
Defensive play is important because even if you only score one basket, if the other team doesn't score at all you win anyway. Unless you can score every time your team has the ball, you have to stop the other team from scoring. Against two hour delay, we would have our best defensive player cover their best shooter (ben), and have our biggest player cover justin, since he gets most of their rebounds.

I would cover Byron because he is very fast and im the fastest on my team.
David would cover Kalli and Venu would cover the other person.

In basketball a good defence is as important as a good offence. A game can be won with a bad offence and a good defence. Yet a game with two good offences, is simply a game of who wins first. For the example i will use the Punk Rebels, because thats the only team where i know all the players and team name. Since we have four players and they have three. IT is likely that Katherine and Gwen will cover Jason and Chris since all four have the same active level. Me and danny may sub out as we defend Eric since we have the are about just as active as each other.

Defensive play is important so opponents do not score. If we play a good defense then we can intercept the ball to score. If we played Dragon Ballz, we would match up Byron to that girl who is really good, so that he can stop her drives, Me to Will cause he can't score for his life, and one of our girls to Hallie. We would do this so that all of our match ups were either equal or we had an advantage.

My teams defense is important, cause it is good to prevent the opposing team from scoring as much as scoring. The team Punk Rebels, would require my team to use a different defensive strategy, which would be tight defense on Eric while playing zone, and leaving the other players unguarded , at least tightly. This allows my team, to prevent the best player from scoring alot, keep an eye on the other players, and to easily get the rebound, to score a quick point, by playing zone.

Our defensive play is important because if we cant stop the other team from scoring we will lose. if we were to play the burritos, we would match matt with austin and me with hector, in order to stop them from scoring.

My team's defensive play is very important in order for us to win our games. My team plays a man to man defense, where each person on the team is covering a different person. In this system, each person stays directly between their man and the basket, so the person on offense can not make an easy layup or shot. If my team, Ramrod, was playing another team, such as The Tropics, we would play them using this man to man style described above. However, in order to prevent any size mismatches, I would make sure that I would guard the smaller person on their team, like Danny, while Javier and Enrique, as they are taller would guard the taller people on their team, like Isaac and Gwen. If we can consistently stay between our man and the basket, we can force turnovers, rebound effectively, get back on offense, and, therefore, have a better chance of winning the game.
Playing defensive is important on our team because we aren't that good at shooting so it is important that we prevent them from scoring more than us. If we played the gumdrops we would probably double team Byron because he is very skilled and fast.

Defense is very important to a game because if you can't block shots then even if your team can score, you still won't get the ball very often and won't have as many chances to shoot. If we were to play the Tropics then Byron would match up with Issac, Sean would match up with Danny and Kalli or I would match up with Gwen or Katharine. That takes into account peoples height and maneuverability.
My team's defensive play is very important. You have to match players according to skill and speed to make it a fair match. If my team played the Tropics, Matt would guard isaac because of the height and isaac moves around a lot, so matt can stick with him. Jordan and Dariush usually switch with the subbing, so they would mark depending on who's in. I would mark danny..cause although he's 4 feet shorter than me, he's faster than me and we're both pretty beast at basketball it works out.
In a game of basketball, it is important to have defense so you get rebounds and stop the oppenent from shooting. without defense you would not be able to play successfully. if my team, the gumdrops, were to play Nike i would match myself or Alice with Nina, byron with Mike,and Sean with John based on hight and skill.

The team we best match up to is probably nike because we can go to man to man on defense. Everyone can match up easily based on height. I would match up with John because we're close in height, and be pretty much equal. I know Lindsey can guard Mike, while Jordan or Darius can take on the smaller girl. So everyone will be good to go on defense.
Defense is very important to my team (the tropics) because we aren't too decent at actually making baskets, so it's key for us (especially me and Gwen) to keep the ball away from the other team so that danny and isaac can actually score.

Our team,Nike, plays good defense because we match up skill and height or sometimes even play zone defense if that's easier. If we played the sequel we'd need to play good defense and get all rebounds so they wouldn't have another shot.
Defense is very important because it stops the other team from scoring more points so if you keep their points down and get more points for your team then you can win. If our team dynamo were to play the seventy-sixers then we match our best defenseive player would cover david then our second best would cover the basket to get rebounds which we can score from.

I think my team play very good on defense but we need play more with past
I think that defense is more important than offense in this situation; with defense you can seriously hurt the other teams chances of a win by not letting them score. Though an offense is important, you can get crushed without a good defense. If the Tropics 9my team) were going to play the gumdrops, I would probably be matched with Kalli, Kathrine with Alice, and Danny or Isaac against Byran or Sean, becaue they are about the same skill level.

danny...against the cupcakes man marking is avery important skill becuase they have players that are very indivualy skilled so it is important to give them no space to shoot from outside. I would mark Lindsay because she is not very strong and I am very tall and buff so i would dominate her and win my team THE TROPICS the game
Playing a defensive game was very important durng our games due to our team lacking skill in shooting. I we were to play a byrons team we would probably have to double team him or play a very coordinated zone defense because byron is very fast and creating space.

deense is really important if you want to be a good team. you cant always rely on ofeense to win games. you need a good defensive strategy to catch rebounds, intercept etc. If we played a team like dynamo wed need to have goo defense against the teams speed and height advantage
