Period 2 Basketball

Due Date: Monday, November 30th

In our 3 on 3 unit we have discussed several ways to create space on offense to get open. Please explain how to correctly use a pick and roll, a curl, or a fade to create space from the defender. How important do you think it is to be able to read the defense? Why?

The pick and role is set up with 2 of your teamates on both sides of you if you are the ballhandler at the time, you pass the ball to a side teamate, and set a pick, the defender has to than pick up on the open current ball handler or guard the man setting the pick, if she tries you go in for the ball handler the man who set the pick can role away and go for the basket and will be wide open for the pass ready to make the layup

first the play starts out with the person at the top of the key passing it to a wing man that has done a V cut. after the pass, the man at the top of the key will go set a pick for the opposite wing. this is where it all begins, with the pick able to open up towards the basket, the other wing man uses the pick and curling into the basket or fading back for an open shot. it is very important to read the defense because you run your offense depending on the defense, trying to get a man open for an easy shot.

You use a pick and roll when the defender does not come through the pick. You use a curl when the defender does not pick you up after the pick. You use a fade when the player tries to cheat and avoids the pick. It is very important to be able to read the defense because it can lead to easy points and open shots.

a pick and roll is an offensive play in which a player stops to pick a defender for a teammate handling the ball and then slips behind the defender to accept a pass. It's very important to read the defense because it allows the offensive player to see their weaknesses and where he can attack and what decisions to make.

Kyle Weissenburger,
A pick and roll is a very effective way to create space between your defender and it makes for easy baskets. To use a pick and roll you must set a screen on your teammates opponent and then roll to the basket. But you must open up to the basket the right way to have a chance at scoring. I think it is important to be able to read the defense because for example if the defense is sagging in i would use a fade to create even more space and knock down the jumpshot.

In 3 on 3, a pick and roll is when the point guard passes the ball off to a wing player after they both V-cut, then picks away to the defender of the other wing player. He takes the pick, and goes to the top of the key where he recieves the ball. the point guard rolls toward the basket and gets the ball for a lay up if hes open. It is important to read the defense so you know to use a pick and roll, a curl, or a fade.

To use a pick and roll, you set the pick on your teammates defender and as he moves past your shoulder, you roll to the basket. To use a curl when your teammate picks your defender and the defender is following closely behind you, you move tight around the pick and go to the basket. You use the fade when you defender goes under the screen so you pop out for the jumper. It is important to read the d so you can limit turnovers and make the right decision to get easy buckets.

_Pick and Roll- the 2 players make a v-cut then the point guard passes the ball to one of the players, then the point guard sets a pick to the other player

Curl-the other player gets the ball and goes in(curls in) for a layup

Fade- same as the curl but the player goes out in the corner for a jump shot

All good athletes should know how to read the defens or the offense would just turn into chaos.

A pick and roll is where a team mate without the ball sets a screen for the ball handler and quickly cuts to the basket looking for a pass. The ball handler will then throw a pass to the wide open man for a lay up. Its very important to read defenses because reading a defender(s) is how you get all your points, whether you have a play set up or not.

You use a pick and roll as an offensive play in order to try and score offensively. When you pick and roll, the player without the ball sets a pick away from the ball and then rolls to the hoop for an easy layup. A fade is when the player who sets the pick away from the ball fades into the corner away from the defense for an easy jumpshot. A curl is used when the player on the defense curls towards the basket again for an easy layup. Its very important to read the defense so the offensive player can see whats going to be open and see what move he should use

to use a pick and roll, the two outside players do a v-cut. then the point guard will pass to one of the 2 players and then set a pick to the opposite side. The other person goes around the pick and recieves the ball. The guard rolls to the basket for an open shot. It is important to read the defense so that you know when to do a fade, roll, or curl.

The pick and roll strategy is used to get the ball to a teammate who is behind opponent defenses. The person with the ball sees an opening and the recieving teammate goes for it and makes a basket. This is a strategy that should be utilized especially in close gameplay around the basket.

To use a pick you must set a pick on your when he comes close to your shoulder you open up towards the basket where you have a easy lay up. if this doesnt work you can use a fade which can find you in a wide open position for a shot

Reading the defense is very important because it allows you see any weaknesses and gives u the opportunity to make a decision on how and when to attack to score points. A very good offensive play to use during a game to break the defense is a pick and roll. A pick and roll starts when one of the offensive players sets a pick after the other 2 players V-cut and receive the pass from the player that is setting the pick. After setting the pick he turns and goes towards the basket for a pass and a chance to score.

A pick and roll is when a player sets a pick on the defender guarding the ball handler, and then gets open for a pass. It is important to be able to read the defense in order to be effective on offense. Being able to read the defense allows the offense to make good decisions on where to go with the ball.

To correctly use the pick and roll the player with the ball must use the pick correctly and the other player must roll the right way to get open. A curl is used when the defender is not following u close enough. A fade is used when the defender is cheating and fade out for a jumpshot. It is very important to be able to read the defense because if you are able to it can lead to easy buckets and points.

A pick and roll is when you set a pick on your teammates defender, then roll to the basket when your teammate goes past you. A curl i used when the ballhandlers defender is guarding him closely, so when the pick is set the ballhandler drives to basket. A fade is used when your defender goes under the pick, so instead you shoot the jump shot. It is important to read the defense to make the right offensive decisions so its easier to score and limit turnovers.

You use the pick technique to give the ball handler a lane to drive through but if the defender is smart and comes off the pick then you use the roll. If you don't read the defense, there is a chance of a turnover.

The pick and roll works when a player sets a pick for his team mate handling the ball then slips behind the defender waiting for the pass. It's important to read the defense because it allows you to see the options you have that the defense is giving you in order to put up a good shot.
