Period 4 -Advanced Basketball

In class we have been working on setting screens and discussing reading the defense in our 3 on 3 unit. Please watch the video below and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 2 points. Please make sure to write your name on your Blog.



1. When you set a screen, do you set the screen on a person or an area?

2. What are 3 things the offensive player can do when they are being screened?

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

4. What is the most important thing to do when coming off a screen?

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

1. Screen an area.
2. Backdoor, curl hard, or bump.
3. When the defender is following you.
4. Read the defense.
5. My team as used screens a few times and each time we have used them, they have worked very well.

1.You screen an area, not a person so you prevent the foul
2.The three things the offensive player can do when setting a screen is: go back door to cut to the basket, curl off the screen,and bump off the screen
3. You should curl off the screen if the defender is playing very agressive on you.
4.The most important thing to do is to read the defense when coming off a screen.
5.Our team uses screens sometimes epecially when the defender is playing very agressive.

the OP can run back door when defender cheats
the OP can curl around screen for a shot
the OP can bump to get a lot of space for the shot or the dish

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

When the defender does not cheat

To read the defense or to grab teammates hips

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

Every now and then. Not really.

5. my basketball team uses a lot of screens, we feed off of them. they are very effective because the create many opportunities
