Period 1 Advanced Basketball

Due Date: Thursday, May 19th

We have started our 5 on 5 unit. We have discussed playing zone vs. playing a man to man defense. Explain how your defensive strategy can help make your team successful during this unit. Also, include what type of defense your team should play against each other team in class based on your teams strengths and weaknesses. In order to receive full credit you must make sure to tell me your team and the type of defense your team should play againt the other 4 teams in the class. Make sure to give me a reason why you think this is the best defense.

My team the Lakers are best at playing a press defense and then move back in to a zone it allows us to pressure the ball but at the same time only focus on the particular player that are more DANGEROUS then others, when playin the Celtics we must usaually play a press 2 3 zone so we cn focus on kyle and veron. this puts pressure on kyle when coming up the court but allows us to control the tempo by steping back into the zone and ocasionaly give him the outside shot. when playing the heat a traingle 2 zone is the best so we dont allow willis to attack the basket. thunder a man defense usaully goes the best there are not any serious threats we just must focus on the team as a whole. when playin the bulls if we just concetrate on the shooters and keep denell from pentrating the paint we will be in good shape our full court press will take care of this. dazzy out aka daivon adams

well my team is the bulls and we should play a 2-3. the way this defense can make us successful is cause we are going to be able to trap every team that we play. cause are team is more of a quick dynamic team.

Playing zone can help our team be succesful because it allows us to play good defense without having to worry if Marina will get scored on.

i think we should play 3-2-zone because most people in this class can shoot the outside shot so we want to prevent that.

The defensive strategy that best suits our team is a man to man. It is simple but at all times somebody is gaurding somebody so their shouldnt be any wide open players if playing correctly. My team is the Heat, and our players aren't the best at working together so man to man kinda lets you do your own thing instead of being confined to an area.

The thunder team is best at playing man to man because we are good at sliding and can get back quickly from a slide.

My team is the Bulls. I think our team should play a 2-3 zone. We do not have a lot of size so we can pack the middle against the other teams not allowing them to get easy lay ups. Also, all of the teams have at least 1 good shooter so, we can pop out on the shooter not allowing him to shoot.

My team is the Lakers. Since our team is athletic we are good at playing full court pressure and then playing zone after the other teams pass half court. Against the Celtics we use our full court press and drop into 2-3 zone. Varun and Kyle are good shooters but if we close out fast enough in our zone we can be successful. Against the Thunder we play a man to man defense and put our best defender on Nikola. Against the Heat, we play a 3-2 zone so that we can keep Willis from shooting and penetrating towards the basket. Against the Bulls, we play man to man help defense so that if Denell goes for a lay up, we have an extra man to help out.

my team is the lakers and we should play a 2 3 zone so we can trap players on the other team and make them turn over the ball. our defensive strategy will make us successful because we force turnovers and finish on fast breaks.

Our 3 2 zone fits our team well because we have 3 fast ppl on the perimeter that can guard the outside shot and we have 2 big people that can get rebounds and guard the post. Against a team with good shooters like alec our zone can shut him down. Against a team with miles who's big we should play a man so we can shut him down in the post. Against matts team who can shoot we should play our 3 2 to shut sown the 3. And against Willis we should play a trap cause he can do everything

My team is the Lakers, we kind of play a triangle and two defense, where Dee and Daivon trap the other teams' best player. By shutting down their best player, the other team is usually unable to execute their offense, so we win more games.
For the Celtics, we should use a triangle and two as usual, to stop Kyle, their main threat. A 3-2 zone would probably work best for the Bulls since a lot of their players are outside shooters, but we can still stop them if they penetrate. A man-to-man is best for the Thunder because we match up pretty well. And for the Heat, probably a 2-3 zone defense so that we can stop them from driving the lane, but also stop the outside shooters.

Mrs.Dieer, I have always been a fan of the X, ini other words the 2-1-2 zone but expanded, this allows our team the perfect amount of spreadation so we can cut off all passing lanes, while being able to have numbers in favor of us in rebounding 'position' compared to other defenses while it also enables us to have a head start on the fast break with our 2 guards racing ahead. this b da biggest playa / balla / moneymaker to ever walk in yo classroom, dis b da one da only steve 'da boss' sullivan

My team is the Thunder and the most effective defense that we run is man to man. It lets us put solid pressure on each player of the opposing team and allows us to box out for rebounds. Against the Heat the defense that we usually run is a box and one to have a regular zone, but one man guarding Willis. We run a similar defense against the Celtics but instead we run a triangle and two to lock off their shooters. Against the Bulls we usually run a two three zone to guard both inside and out and against the Lakers we run man to man to lock off all of their players.

My team is the thunder. We like to play zone because we don't need to worry if a player drives in becuase we will collapse on them. We will play man on the Lakers because they don't drive in as much. But for every other team we play man.

My team the Celtics can not play a good zone defense so we can only play man to man defense. this is the best defense for us because no one knows how to play zone correctly and therefore we only play man to man.

I think we,the thunder, are best playing a 2-3 zone since it forces the offense to spread the floor and shoot contested threes. Against the Lakers we should play a 3-2 since they have a lot of shooters.Against the Bulls we should play man since we have enough good individual players to guard them. Against the Heat we should do a triangle and two to limit their two best offensive players. Against the Celtics we should play a 3-2 to cut off the shooters.

My team is the bulls and I think a 2-3 zone is usually a good defensive strategy to use. This way we can cover a lot of the people in the class who have a good shot and heza and dennell get the paint because they are bigger. Against the Celtics I like to play a 4-1 zone where I run around after Kyle because he is really good, this way it is harder for kyle to make baskets and the rest of my team cover the other players. A 4-1 zone is also good against the heat because Willis is like Kyle. Against the Thunder and Lakers I like a 2-3 zone to make sure they don’t shoot from long range because that is what they usually do, except Alon.

the bulls like to run a box and one against all of the teams in the class because everyteam has one good scorer and without them they cant score as well making it so that we create alot of turnovers and we score. this is the best d our team can run and we execute it well.

My team is the Thunder and we don't really have any big men on our team so we have a better chance of playing a 2-3 zone defense in order to trap bigger players. All the other teams in the class have taller and bigger men so this is what we should set up as most of the time in order to stop drives.

My team is the celtics, the benifit of a man to man defence is being able to keep every man covered at all times, The advantage of a zone is that even if you have a weak defence the zone will compensate. Since we have alot of height i would only suggest the 2-3 zone for our defence
