Period 7- Team Games

Due Date: Wednesday, October 1st  
Please watch the video clip below about football positions and offensive strategies. Please answer the following questions after viewing the video clip. Make sure to put your name on your assignment.






1. What do tight ends do in a high school football game?

2. What positions would the fastest members of the team play?

3. What are 2 advantages of running a pro set or split back offense?

4. After watching the video clip and grasping a better understanding of positions, please list your team members and name the position that you think they are most successful at. Please don't forget to include yourself.

  1. 1.) Tight ends go up against the strong linebacker, and in the offensive team, they either join the offensive defense line or act as an extra wide receiver.

    1. Tight ends are a mix between a blocker and pass receiver on either side of a field.
    2. The weak linebacker, running back, and wide receiver.
    3. First, it is easier to pass the football without letting the other teams know. Second, it gives the Running Backs the opportunity to run out and make short passes to either a wide receiver or tight end.

  3. 1) Tight ends are a mix between a blocker and a pass receiver, and can become a wide receiver.
    2) Wide receivers or running backs (half back).
    3) It's easy to pass or run with the ball, and the other team cannot be sure what the play will be.

  8. 1. Tight ends are a mix between a blocker and are also used as a receiving option for the offensive team
    2. They would be best used as the weak linebacker, the running back, or a wide reciever
    3. Pro set- it is easy to pass or run the ball and makes it hard for the other team to know what the offense is doing
    Split Back- it gives the offense 2 tight ends which can be used as more passing options and spreads out the defense

    1. The tight end serves as a mix of a pass reciever and a blocker
    2. The fastest players should play wide reciever or Half back because they usually need to run away from the defense.
    3. Both formations are good because the defense doesnt know if you will run the football or pass it. Also the formations are good because it is easy for the QB to do a play action pass and swing out to the side to pass it to the tight end or wide reciever.

  10. 1.tight ends are both blockers and receivers and when blocking normally bock the linebacker and can also line up on either side of the field
    2.the weak side linebackers, receivers, running backs
    3.the pro set is a run or pass formation and when passing gives the qb more time in the pocket the split back formation has two tight ends and is more of a spread offense this also allows the running back to act as another receiver
    4. i have never really played with my team so i dont know all there names

    3.pro set- gives the quarterback a long time to pass and is an effective way to run/pass the ball
    split back- there are two tight ends and the opponents defense is spread out

    1. Tight ends either guard the quarter back with the defensive line or they move outwards and become another wide receiver.
    2. The fastest members would either play the running back or the wide receiver.
    3. In a pro set, the quarter back can throw to someone or they can hand to a running back to throw to a wide receiver. The other team will also not know what play you are going to make.

    3.It really tricks the defense so receivers are more available and running backs can make better runs with the ball.
