We have started our 5 on 5 unit. We have discussed playing zone vs. playing a man to man defense. Explain how your defensive strategy can help make your team successful during this unit. Also, include what type of defense your team should play against each other team in class based on your teams strengths and weaknesses. In order to receive full credit you must make sure to tell me your team and the type of defense your team should play againt the other 4 teams in the class. Make sure to give me a reason why you think this is the best defense.

The reason that the 2-3 is the best is because it covers each area inside the 3 point line.

My team should play 3-2 zone defense in order to prevent lay ups or long distance shots. Also, with tighter defense near the hoop, we should only allow long distance shots, giving them a less chance of making it and giving us the rebound.

ReplyDeleteI believe we need to play hard man to man defense in order to win. We have tried all the zones and lost our last 10 games because of it. The box and 1 didn't work on any team. But man on man worked on every single team. With man on man we know who were supposed to guard and stay with them the entire time. With zones some people get confused causing the other team to score. Man to Man is what we should do.

My team is the Heat. Our team does best by playing the 1-3-1. It has worked well in our last few games. It gives us a chance to give our better defenders to branch out. having a quick low man moving from side to side. and our three middle men lesser on defense but being able to shut anyone out from getting into the lane. And our top man moving quickly on the point man.

my team is the thunder and we run a 2-3 zone. some times we switch into a man defence depending on the situation. and example would be like on a fast break, every team-mate on the floor might not be able to catch up so you would have to pick up the closest available man.our 2-3 zone gives us a well balanced defence pressing for a shot rather than inside the lane. with missed shots then comes turnovers and that is what we do best beating teams on turnovers.

Our defensive stragety can help make our team successful by making sure every zone/man is covered at all times. I think our best defense our team should use is a 2-3 zone. I am on teh thunder and I think this defense works the best is because me and Obi have the strongest denensive skills and we are the tallest.

My team name is Chicago Bulls and we play man to man defense whenever we have nice match ups, otherwise we play zone defense. Our types of defense is the best because it accounts for the "resources" we have...that is..if we are better off playing man to man,which is usually the case. then thats just what we do.

ReplyDeleteWe should play a 2-3 defense because we dont have lots of height on our team and a 2-3 will stack men in the middle a enable us to get more rebounds as a smaller team.

My team (Lakers), should play man against the celtics and thunder because we matchup well with them defensively. But, against the Bulls we should play are 2-3 zone so that we are forcing them to shoot, because they are very good at attacking the basket.

I think my team should play a box and 1 zone. it works best for us since we have 2 big guys who can play down low and 2 smaller, faster guys who can play up top and then jenny can play the 1 above all 4. This defense allows for us to utilize our talent and then move on with our affective fast break offense.

I think we should play a 2-3 zone, because it forces the other team to take outside shots. It is also good because the three tallest players below will help block the ball, and the smallest up front help steal/ guard the ball.

Because: the smaller players are up front and the taller players under the net. the 2 up front can try to steal the ball and if the other team get past, the players under the basket can get it. it protects the basket and allows us to be able to block.

i think that the lakers should play man to man because we are all really good defensive players so our man does not drive/get by us usually, but if that does happen we are also good at helping each other out (sliding). this is why i think the lakers should play man to man on the other teams because we usually can choose a man that is at our level most of the time.

I think that this zone works the best because each person on offense is guarded and the person shooting would have to go along the outside of the zone or drive right through the middle of it.

And the top man can cover their fast point man from getting inside or around

ReplyDeleteWere not very tall and our offense isn't that good, but our defense is strong so we can stop the hard drives down the court because most our points are from lay ups right after we intercept the other team
Because we are a relatively short statured team, we usually don't take 3pointers, mostly closer shots so the 2-3 would come to our advantage.

everyone stays on their person instead of being inside a zone where more than one person could be or get confused who to guard. man-to-man defense is better since your concentrated on guardingone person and watch everything they do, and do whatever to make sure they dont get the ball.
