Period 4 - Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, December 3rdIn class we have been working on setting screens and discussing reading the defense in our 3 on 3 unit. Please watch the video below and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 2 points. Please make sure to write your name on your Blog.

1. When you set a screen, do you set the screen on a person or an area?

2. What are 3 things the offensive player can do when they are being screened?

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

4. What is the most important thing to do when coming off a screen?

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

    5. Not frequently or not at all, so screening has not been effective for my team

    5. we use them a lot, because we do not have any guards who can handle the ball well. We have a Hayden. They have been very effective, either we get a wide open layup or jump shot

    5. On my team i set a lot of screens to help my teamates get open looks,or make it eaiser to drive to the basket.

    5. I have not really noticed specific times when my teammates used screens because I did not know what they were. I believe my teammates use them effectively however.

    5. We have been very successful in using screens and we use them frequently. When we use a screen, we usually have a man open and pass to that man for an easy shot.

    5. We don't use the screens very often and I feel it would greatly benefit our teamwork if we did.

  11. 1) According to the video we screen an area, but all my coaches I have ever had has taught me to screen a man, so my personal philosophy is that we should screen a man.
    2) You can bump, curl, or go back door.
    3) You should curl off of a screen when your man is playing you tight and after you have taken him under the basket.
    4) You have to read the defense when coming off of a screen.
    5) On both of my teams we effectively use the pick and roll a lot.

    5 we use screens quite often but if the defender on the person getting open after they set a screen is faster then it is completely up to the person coming off the screen
