Period 1 - Basketball

Due Date: Wednesday, December 3rdIn class we have been working on setting screens and discussing reading the defense in our 3 on 3 unit. Please watch the video below and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 2 points. Please make sure to write your name on your Blog.


1. When you set a screen, do you set the screen on a person or an area?

2. What are 3 things the offensive player can do when they are being screened?

3. When should you curl off of a screen?

4. What is the most important thing to do when coming off a screen?

5. How frequently is your team using screens during your game play? Have they been effective for your team?

    2. -Backdoor for layup, hard curl for jumpshot/open pass, and bump for post up or jumpshot.

    3. To break the defender off of you to create an open shot or pass

    4. place your hand on the man's hip setting the screen as you curl

    5. Sometimes, very effective.

    2.) When the offensive person is being screened they can go back door, they can curl, or they can bump.

    3.) You should curl off a screen when the defender is playing you tight and following you.

    4.) The most important thing to do when coming off the screen is to read the defense.

    5.) My team hasn't used many screens, but when we have they have been fairly effective.

    5. We have never screened for one another because we try to do isolations. I think we should use screens more often because we have not won a game yet.

    4) Grab/Touch the person who’s screening hip in order for the defender to be left behind/not get through.
    5) Screens are not that frequently used because I gave a ball hog on my team, but when do use screens they are usually pretty affective.

    5 my team doesn't use screens we try and score one on one when we have used screens its effective because the defense crashes on the man and leaves the screener open which gives us many open shot opportunities.

  30. 1. You set a screen when you see your teammate with the ball and is rolling around and needs a pick so he can drive down the lane or shoot the ball. You aim to set the screen on a person.
    2. When the offensive player gets a screen he can shoot the ball once the pick is set, run on an angle towards the pick to get down the lane or use the pick to get open for a pass.
    3. You should curl off a screen once your teammate is rolling to the basket.
    4. Most important thing to do is to get open.
    5. My team uses is a few times a game and yes they have been effective.
