Period 4 Basketball

Due Date: Friday, March 25th

We are getting ready to start our 3 on 3 unit. Based on your own basketball experience, as well as your 2 on 2 experience, what are three strengths that your 3 on 3 team must possess to be successful? Why?

27 comments:

  1. Three strengths my team must possess

Communication- to organize, to direct, to aid.

Encouraging- to be supportive of teammates, strengthen team bond, and make the sport fun!

    Dedication- devoted players=stronger team.

  2. You must create shots for other people. You be able to drive in the lane and you need an outside shot because it will help you score more easily.

  3. 1. Passing because it will eventually lead to an open pass
    2. Picking and Rolling because it will lead to an open shot from the pick person or the other person that was not involved in the pick and roll
    3. Cutting because SOMEONE on our team will be quick enough to outrun their defender and result in an open shot or pass

  4. First of all the team should be able to communicate because the field is small. Also as a team of 3 we should be able to make wall passes which allows us to give more space to our teammate to score. We don't have to play hard, but we have to play smart.

  6. My team must possess good rebounding, good passing and tough defense. These three keys are fundamentals of basketball and create more opportunites to score more points and shut down the opposing teams offense.

As a team, the 2 or 3 guys on the floor must work together in complete fluidity. They need to be selfless and make sacrifices for a better shot. Teams need spacing in a 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 tournament like this so they can have open looks and NOT crowd the lane.

  8. my team will need to be unselfish and look for the best oppurtunity to score and get the highest percnetage shoot possible. Also we must use the pick and roll to get the open shot or hit the teamate on the roll for an open shot. Finally, we must use our post moves to get lay ups and be near the hoop for offensive rebounds.

-Being able to communicate and work well as a team. The stronger a team the better we will play.
-Playing smart and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of out team. We can use our strengths first then try to improve our weaknesses.
-Use good basketball skills such as passing to open players and making good shots. Executing well will lead to success.

Three strengths a successful 3 on 3 team must possess are shooting, defensive communication, and favorable matchups. There is more floor taken up in 3 on 3 compared to 2 on 2 which makes driving to the basket more difficult. A good shooting team will be able to put up points successfully. Also, a 3 on 3 team that can defend off picks and prevent easy drives will make scoring much more dificult for the other team. Finally, a team that can find mismatches and use screens to create mismatches will be able to score points in easy ways setting themselves up for suceess.

Defense- better defense equals to more energy on offense

Passing- everyone getting a touch on the ball each possesion makes it hard on the defense to predict who is going to take the shot

3 point shot-When you're making 3 point shots, it makes the defense play on the perimeter leaving space in the interior for easy baskets.

  16. 1. My team need to be open because you need to pass around the ball to get a good shot

    2. Do picks so that the guy with the ball can drive and make a layup

    3. My team must not hog the ball because we can't score a point if someone doesn't pass the ball to someone who is open

  18. 3 strengths my 3 on 3 team must possess are unselfish passing especially into the post, help side defense, and show the ability to dribble drive and kick out to the shooter for the open jump shot. All 3 of these are needed because to win 3 on 3 game you need full team effort on offense and defense as well as good execution to finish plays.Without open shots, unselfish play, and good defense winning wont be possible, which is not acceptable for my teammates and I.

We must be good at shooting.

We must play tight defense and not slack off.

  20. 3 strenghs would be:

    1. Ball movement: A good passing team will keep the defence on their toes and create open shots for other teammates.

    2. Defense: If your team can't play defense, you can't win and in this case, you won't get the ball back on offense.

    3. Encouragement: If your teammate's spirits are down, they won't have a will to win. A successful team has strong motivation.

    1) We have to have good communication so we can know if a teamate is open or they need a pick.
    2) Good rebounding so we dont give the other team a lot of chances to score 1 point. Also, so we get multiple chances to make a shot
    3) Good defensive so we can shut down the other team, so we don't have to score a lot of points

Communication because then we would be organized and can aid our teammate if he/she is in trouble.

Good shooting skills because then we can score

Good defense skills because then we can stop the other team from scoring

    1. talking to each other to help and aid one another.

    2. share the ball; pass to everyone on your team until you find the open shot

    3. don't get mad; be supportive of your teammates

  25. Youll need an inside player, putside player, and a good passer. if you have all three there will always be opportunities to score. and then all players should be able to play good defense.

  26. Our team must possess
Communication/Support - It's important that teams communicate knowing they can depend on eachother
Passing - allows for a lot of ball movement and opens the court for possible shots
Defense - prevents the other team from gaing the ball along w/ not being able to score
